Let's keep a live commentary thread going again today. The FBI Tip Line #1-888-324-9800.
All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

Boy I completely missed that part. Have to go back and re-read the article after second cup of tea.

Thank you for calling the Sniper Tip Line! My name is lAkEeZ, how may I help you?
(love the "screen name" imagery!)
To: areafiftyone
That wouldn't imply any special "in." The phone probably was answered "Hello, this is -----" (for all we know, a fake name)
To: slimer
I've seen a couple reports (CNN for one) that said sniper said, "It's not just about violence." That seems like a very Western thing to say. I'm not so sure now that it is AQ.

God=Allah (as well)

Oh well I gotta go catch my train and go to work. Hopefully I can continue on this thread when I get there. Have a great day Freepers!!!

I guess I'm saying he hasn't set up an account. You don't talk about wired money and at the same time ignore the fact that it can be traced. Don't think he knows what he's talking about and just trying to be "intelligent."
Think the phone booth type scenario was his first choice (same stealthing as his shots). When he saw that go down, he switched to this.

"It's not just about violence." What would that mean if not political demands? And that means this is terrorism.

Extreme anger and yelling "I AM GOD" sure doesn't seem to match with a cool and methodical sniper. It does if the person has a rage disorder. I've seen it in domestic abusers (male and female). Some of them can maintain control (while controlling everyone around them), but each time they cycle through the rage, they lose a bit more of the control over themselves, & when they do, if they're very controlling, will pull back. He's/she's more of a stalker than a person who just blows up & beats the living crap out of someone else. But the one thing abusers do not want to do is lose control of the situation. Toss in narcissism and a few other psychological disorders and the guy's a pressure cooker that blew--but blew under his terms, not someone else's.
Look at the killer's rage when no one paid attention to him. He/she blew up at the cops. He killed more people. He raged somemore. And I doubt if giving him money or anything else will placate the killer because the killer will never be satisfied--and the murderer will always feel as though he/she/they were wronged. Shifting blame is part of their mindset.

He hasn't shot any cops because he knows they are armed and one might get a shot at him. Not if he nails the intended victim from behind. (Do they have bulletproof hats?)
To: Sacajaweau
I thought I heard on the radio that one of the letters named the account he wanted the money sent to? Wouldn't that mean the account is already set up?
To: Catspaw
Atta raged like that.

You make declarative statements ... huh ?
few of us in here have any 'inside info';
just a couple hundred (mostly) logical minds trying to work a two week old puzzle.
what there is absolutely no doubt about is that our nation has sworn enemies, promising death to all us infidels
who choose not to think that their child molesting, thieving, camelf****r of a 'prophet' was much of a human, let alone 'god',
and who has operated training camps in several countries to teach their delusional converts various methods to strike us hard and on the cheap.
so pardon me if i tend to think that, having invested all those years and dollars in their preparation for 'jihad',
the bastards might just someday decide to put some of the investment into practice ...

Could it be two people. One rager, and one shooter.
To: aristeides
Well, I'll be happy to drive over and sit on a street corner with a bullseye T-shirt and a FRee Republic sign.
I just hope the cops get him when he surfaces. My insurance will still pay off.
To: aristeides
And Atta's rage was very controlled. This is more of a seething rage, "don't mess with me" kind of rage, than explosive rage.

I think the sniper has a phone number to call that only he knows. If that is so, hanging up on him 5 times was a bit stupid.
The sniper was calling in on the regular tipline just like everyone else was. He now has his own private 1-800 number to call police at as of yesterday evening. He was suppose to call in again to retrieve this private 1-800 as of last night.
To: wewillnotfail
Sorry ... missed the second part fair enough.
just because i'm paranoid, doesn't mean the bastards aren't out to get me anyway ...

If this guy really gets angry easily, his anger could be his downfall.

It's more like 60/40 that they will but that's not much better.
