All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

I really do appreciate all you guys here (almost all of you, anyway). Last night, I felt I was sharing with the "friends" I had just spent all day with which is why I said what I did.

Alot of people can't take off of work and its not that easy to get jobs. Alot of people dont' feel the way you do about staying home and making their kids stay home for this. But personally I feel the way you do. I was watching O'Reilly and he had two different parents on and they both said they were sending their kids to school and also they weren't going to let this stop them or their kids from living.

I am just finding out about this latest development but I would take it seriously. My opinion is that the shooter desperately wants people to think he is going after kids. He wants parents to be deluging LE with demands that they pay him the money to "save the kids." It would be a smart move to have someone point a gun at a school bus and then hide it quickly. Of course this is not the real sniper but a decoy, and probably someone with some very useful information. I also think LE is thinking the same way and they are immediately going to downplay this incident and put out disinformation that it is not related to the sniper, so as to NOT further frighten parents. The shooter does not really want to shoot any more kids, because once he does the gloves will be off and there will be no way police will negotiate with him anyomre. But he needs for people to THINK he will kill kids.

I also recall someone posting here that they predicted the next shooting would be north of DC, along the I-270 corridor. I'm sure LE is thinking about this too, which explains the very quick reaction to this incident.

And even worse than kids traveling in school buses is for them to have to wait for the bus in the morning out on the street.
