Mr. Moose just held another news conference. Said the Police Department couldn't communicate electronically with the sniper in the manner he requested. What a mess.
The police said call back to get an 800 number or a PO Box.

I believe there is at least a 500 grand reward fund so far,and most anyone would be inclined to collect that much money if they knew the identity of the killer.10 million wouldn't hurt though.Obviously any sane person would turn him in for nothing.
To: sweetliberty
If it is a terrorist, no one who knows that is likely to be motivated by money because they aren't programmed that way.
Personally, I'd step away from that logic. The Portland cell and the Buffalo cell come to mind... you don't believe that a crew like that would twist up an opportunity for some cash grabbing in the midst of their operation? That would not surprise me in the least. fwiw

I was telling my wife this morning that the actual note said nothing about money but instead was asking for the release of the prisoners at Gitmo. I just saw on Yahoo that the US is going to release some of the prisoners. I think someone on FR last night wrote something about some cleric's son being held at Gitmo.

The point is by putting the $10 mill in the reward fund it would turn the tables on the shooter and show him he isn't in control of everything. Plus, someone around the fringes of his daily activity would surely turn him in.

Well it's possible, but it seems to me that since terrorists would have a common purpose or goal that it is unlikely that one would derive any real benefit from betraying one of the group AND the cause for his own selfish gain. Just doesn't fit the profile.

"They gave his name, street name and of course, interviewed some of the neighbors. So much for privacy"Oh, no! That's too bad!

My fruitless attempts to have the
authorities modify the title of this post to
accurately portray a
specific quote has thoroughly exhausted me.
I'm baffled and bewildered.....

"Is this Moose guy competent?" How well do you communicate?
To: Glutton
He probably would trade to get his old job back these days. I feel sorry for him. I like the guy and have chatted more then once with him here. I hope this mess ends well with the sniper's head on a pike.
Is Moose a Freeper?

Hang in there. Most FReepers can read between the lines and understand the difference, eventhough a few may not.

Yeah, I caught that story too. Yet another thing to ponder, right? I remember as a young'en hearing on the news about arab hijackings and demands for release of prisoners and thinking to myself: "if they'd just execute those guys instead of putting 'em in prison, there wouldn't be anything to demand." Not convinced now that I've ever shook off that thought. ©¿©

$10m would buy at least 1 stinky toilet roll. If it was some ME's I'm surprised they hadn't turned the guy in to collect the ransom. Or that they would have already executed the assassin.

LOL! It brings to mind the famous quote from the warden while he's addressing his inmates.
"What we have here is a failure to communicate."

This evening I watched the replay of Connie Chung at 11 PM. The CNN gal (Kelli Arena?), who is covering this story for CNN, stated that this very long three page letter from the shooter contained an extensive 'timetable'--i.e. you will do this by such a time or else this will happen. This left me with the impression that this AM's shooting was part of the 'plan/timetable' outlined in the letter. THIS IS ONLY MHO--the reporterette did not state that, it was just the intonation of her voice that gave me that impression. Also, she repeated that he wanted 10 million dollars wired to an off shore account.

It should work at least as good as what they are doing now.

I am having a very hard time with the coincidence of it. They should give them a canoe and point them in the direction of Mecca.
To: GirlShortstop
You're right, thanks. A great scene and very visual.
