My family's protection is in the bedroom. My wife is proficient with it, and when my boy is old enough, he will be too. I believe it is irresponsible and incomprehesible to have a family and not be armed. And even if you don't have a family, you should be armed anyway. That way when you call the cops, they are coming to pick up the bad guys bits of flesh instead of yours or your loved ones.

Basically the same thing happened to me.

My wife was fixing breakfast and I walked into the family room and she turned the TV on to Foxnews for me. Before I could take a sip of the coffee she handed to me, the news came out that the poor guy had been shot.

She said that I could watch the news all day, and when she got back home from work this evening, I wouldn't know anymore from the news than she did by not watching the news all day on this case. She said that it reminded her of the Zodiac murders in this area, where all the egos and PCing kept the killer/killers safe.

This PC withholding of news is working great for the serial killer/killers.

Just be a good witness, maybe get in your car and safely try to find and follow him.

Yes, they should stop giving out information that should be kept quite. LEO's should instead start having detailed news conferences telling people what to do after the next shooting and how and were to look and report. They should tell everyone to prepare and be watchful and ready to gather as much information as possible. There needs to be more neighborhood watch programs. It will take a brave person to run in the direction of the next shot immediately and look for the shooter.

When he shot the 13 y/o I thought it was terrorism and I still do.

This last one today I think he did in his own neighborhood on foot: he field strips the weapon and carries it out in a relatively small bag and walks home.

FWIW... A good source (associated w/feds) recently shared with me that this is another ego battle among LE agencies, with each one wanting to be the hero. Therefore, there is little cooperation among agencies involved. Doncha just love it when the safety of the American public is secondary to the egos of the LE community? Seen it so many times...
