The Edmonson County attorney, whose home was fired on Saturday night, likely was targeted for a drive-by shooting because of his job, authorities said.

''Right now we're investigating this as if he was targeted because he's a prosecutor,'' Sheriff B.J. Honeycutt said yesterday.

Our second incident in Kentucky where shots fired at a prosecuting attorney. The first was a shoot-out where the attorney and his attacker killed each other. These attorneys better take personal protection seriously, which doesn't appear to have happened thus far.

I'm not aware of any similar incidents since the tragic events surrounding Fred Capps, said O'Conner,

Maybe not in Kentucky. He should really read more papers than just the Louisville C-J.

Thanks for the link to the article. I was not aware of the Tom Wales killing or the other incidents referenced.

I know our Commonwealth's Attorney personally and have suggested to him that a training program be implemented for prosecutors and judges. I'm not aware anything has been done to prepare these professionals for what may very well come to them one day - without warning.

We do have CCW in Kentucky and many of us carry all the time (plus a weapon within easy reach at night.) It's also possible to "harden" one's home to make it very difficult to enter and attack day or night. An ounce of prevention. . .
