Unless this is deliberate disinformation, I have trouble understanding why the leakers don't just tell us (and Saddam) the exact date, time and coordinates of the first strike.

I think that everythng that has been "leaked", up to and including this latest information, has been disinformation.

You can thank the sniping team for the delay (or outright cancellation).

You can thank the sniping team for the delay (or outright cancellation). Forgive me, I don't have a telly and don't live in the States and haven't had my second cup of coffee this morning (so I'm still a little slow)- but could you amplify on that a little bit? What happened?

Unless this is deliberate disinformation, I have trouble understanding why the leakers don't just tell us (and Saddam) the exact date, time and coordinates of the first strike.Saddam's having the same problem and that is the point.

and Pentagon officials are now preparing for it to start in March or April instead of January or February. Hmmm, I hope this means it'll start in November! :-)

Here is the only thing credible in the story from a credible source:
Pentagon spokeswoman Torie Clarke disputed the very idea that there is a war timetable.

i can't see W giving in to a sniper ... i see it as a feign, leave saddam thinking he has more time than he has ... (and besides, it IS cbs)

"Fog of War" stories like this will be commonplace til after the elections. Its strategery designed to lull Saddam into sleep til Baghdad's ready to be turned into shish kebab. Trust me, the Texas Hombre is brilliant and is giving away nothing! Yeah and like the Pentagon would ever disclose a war timetable in the New York Times and Washington Post. Bwahahaha!!!
To: kattracks
Yep, this means it is definitely on for November.

Well, a cynic would say he no longer needs the war, as the stock market is on a monster rally for the next two weeks.
We shall see what the policy is on 11/6.

If they go in during spring they better make damn sure they get out soon.
When I landed there in '90 it was early Sept and temperatures went up to 135 degrees. You can hardly walk in that kind of heat much less fight.

Unless this is deliberate disinformation, I have trouble understanding why the leakers don't just tell us (and Saddam) the exact date, time and coordinates of the first strike. Two reasons: First, this is a no-brainer. No war until the weapons inspectors come back and say "He's still got WMDs." That will take three months.
Second: If we faxed the plans to Saddam, he still could do nothing about it. He's toast. The war plans, especially after another four months of gaming, planning, and extra double just-in-case build-up, will be so airtight that, if any war can be said to proceed according to plan, this one will. The mullahs in Iran will be changing their underwear within hours of the start of the war next door. This will be one of the swiftest and most crushing defeats in history - because we can, and because it has to be.
