You caught me trying to be politically correct. LOL.

"The police are getting a bum rap."
They don't deserve criticism for not catching a virtually uncatchable criminal.
They DO deserve criticism for not living up to generations of phony pretense that they are the protectors of society, and can be counted on to catch such criminals. Their sin is not living up to their hype.

Gettin feisty D E Squat... Youre entitled to your armchair quarterbacking same as me... I'd like the Feds taking the lead in this for obvious reasons... give Moose a break... he's out of his depth.
Sometimes a quarter back who knows he doesn't have it won't pull himself out of the game... but it is the humane thing to do and insures the team of its best chance of winning. Thanks for the football reference.

I can't believe this. A whole day of press coverage just to say....nothing. *sigh*
I think they're just playing re-runs from yesterday! It saves on overtime! :-P
To: alnick
Actually I agree with you, although that may not have been completely clear. Check out post 30 - we basically said the same thing, specifically about the media saying things like "he isn't targeting kids", then he does, for example. I think they are irresponsible, jump to conclusions, fly by the seat of their pants, expound on nothing and presume everything. I hope the police know a TON more than they are letting on, and that they don't tell anyone ANYTHING. And if I never again have to look at Daryn Kagin's on location breathless anticipation of nothing new to report, I will be deliriously content forever.

This Moose is trying so hard... but he seems so out of his depthHe seems to be doing about as well as any police chief in recent memory. Maybe not the stellar best, but certainly not the worst.

Since we don't have the sniper yet, WHY would we deport illegal aliens?? I am confused here, if it was a white van and at the right phone, and there are illegal aliens in the van....DO YOU REMEMBER ONE OF FIRST MURDERS WITNESS said "Mexican descent in a white van">>HELLO! Just because there was no evidence yet, does NOT mean they are not connected. If it is multiples, and more than one white van, then why aren't we keeping them in USA until case is solved?? The sniper could have sent them instead, just to see what would happen.
AS a CJ Instructor myself, and one who teaches criminology...I am NOT ruling out anyone until all facts are in, and I am not shipping anyone out of town yet. IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THE SNIPER IS, THEN COULDN'T THERE BE A THIRD GUY OR FOURTH GUY THAT WASN'T THERE OR AT THEIR HOUSE. Does he have to be a white guy from US?
Of course, it could be all a lie and they are holding them at INS to throw Sniper off. Who know with all this drama and interaction with media.

AMEN! This is my sentiment on the messages exactly.

Their sin is not living up to their hype.Their "sin" is being in an essentially thankless occupation. The libertarians scream at them for being overbearing and indisciminately violent, and everyone else condemns them for for not being tough enough or instantly effective.

[Keystone cops bungle audio from sniper call] How does 1bigdictator know it was the cops who bungled the audio? There was nothing in the article that indicated it was their fault.
More likely, the audio was bungled by the sniper or the telephone company.

Drug dealers. That's why the guys were sitting at the phone booth waiting. They should have known that the sniper would not be waiting at a phone.

How is he doing well? He seems frightened in front of the media, which is understandable considering the national audience. Perhaps he suffers from stagefright and is an articulate dynamo once the lights go off. But from everything I've seen he doesn't seem to be a cracker jack to me.
Bottom line give it to the Feds... Its Arab-related terror.

... [Keystone cops bungle audio from sniper call]Hey, you ain't Sherlock Holmes, bucko!
In reference to the call, Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose said today:
"The person you called could not hear everything you said. The audio was unclear and we want to get it right. Call us back so that we can clearly understand,"
Under the circumstances, the police are doing the best that's humanly possible.

Really, we do not have to react to the race baiting of a few individual posters by apoligizing for our opinions.
To: blam
... I's suspect a set-up and not call back.
I would not suspect, I would know, you nailed it. They think that they are dealing with somone with limited critical thinking ability, sorta like Chief Moose.
The LE's just proved your very short stamtent 100% correct.
This may be one of the worlds most tragic comedey's.
Sadly, Chief Moose, and his other incompitent LE underlings, are trying to convince this shooter to call them back after all the world saw what took place when a telephone call was made from one of the telephone numbers that, he, she, it, them, left for them to call.
Black out the press, NOW, Chief Moose, stay off tv, no statements. We have no need to know.
This whole deal is not about you.
$h!t will tend to float to the top in the comode, some times it just drops down to never rise again, as does incompitence.
Chief Moose has the best of both worlds.

No kidding. With all the sound enhancing equipment and digital audio tech, couldn't they resolve what was on the tape and not have to look like idiots in front of the world (and the sniper)?
To: agrace
A good rant it was too. Listening to O'Reilly a DC Investigator was saying that it's not guaranteed that the guy is leaving the scene. He says in DC it's very easy to buy clothing with law enforcement logos. If he is able to blend in, that could be one reason he hasn't been caught. A longshot but I guess now anything's possible.

How is he doing well? He seems frightened in front of the media, which is understandable considering the national audience. That's your subjective perception. I just don't share it.
It is a tough case, and he is under stress--any police chief would be. But my perception of the man is, he's handling it okay.
