If you blow that picture up and look closely at the sticker it looks a LOT more like a (faded) USMC sticker than an NRA. The pixels are golden (not red like NRA) and the shape is indicative of an Eagle globe and anchor.

Looks like they wanted to avoid a hostage situation.
Where have you heard that the sniper is going to become a hostage taker? I haven't heard that anywhere. Do you have a link?
To: Arkinsaw
Do you have a link?I'm SPECULATING. Like everybody else. Do you mind?

Feel free, as long as we don't base reactions on speculation its always fun.

Last night I was answering a post and wrote the same thing - hostage situ coming up - yet I've heard no reference to it and I haven't been actively pondering it. Just popped in my head.
Like the new handle?

I'd be a lot more impressed by your manly post if you weren't typing it 1000+ miles from the action. Yeah, we are real safe down here in South Florida. Between the Muslims arrested for plotting to blow up a local power plant and the multiple connections to 9/11 traning and the anthrax scare, I don't think any other area of the country, outside of NYC, has been more exposed to domestic terrorism than South Florida.
This is a coast-to-coast-and-everywhere-in-between problem that we are all going to have to deal with sooner or later. If you decide that your reaction is to turn turtle, fine. You have to look at yourself in the mirror everyday. I have no plans to change my life because some dufus with a rifle says I should.

Oh and BTW, I was speculating about a hostage situation that could've taken place at the time of the arrest this morning.

The AQ manual includes hostage events.
They may demand money and other stuff, but then they are supposed to kill the hostages and blow themselves up.
Recent warnings are of 9-11 like dangers.
Hope the cops know what they are doing.

Was the NOTE planted at the SCENE by people wanting to profit from the Sniper case?
To: Crusher138
You forgot your close proximity to Janet Reno - now that is scary.

Yup, you're a manly man, alright. Only weenies change their habits because there's a guy taking random potshots in your vicinity.
I suggest you back off the steroids: your keyboard's bound to break, and apparently they also make you say silly things.

I haven't read this entire thread or others on today's sniper events, but I have a feeling that somehow the Chief Moose "response" will be related to the detainees down in Gitmo.
To: Quilla
He said doctors had to remove his spleen and parts of his pancreas and stomach, adding that the bullet "almost ripped his stomach apart." This is the second victim who will survive because the shot was low. The shooter is missing by 6 -8 inches if he intends to kill with a heart shot.
Once, you could call it a fluke. Twice, he's not a good shot.

Nope. Not UAE but .... south of the border.

Since you were replying to a post about shutting the schools down it was a reasonable assumption to conclude you were proposing this as a reason why the schools were shut down. Since they were shut down last night, before the police were called about the van this morning that wouldn't be the case.

What are the chances this is just for show and has been created to get the sniper to come out and take another shot, but closer to the original area because the alert level will seem down quite a bit? Tinfoilish idea? Quite possibly, but it could happen.

I have not seen or heard what you posted anywhere on the cable news!
That's amazing and puts a new twist on these events unfolding!

oh LORD! The PR chick was just on and said there will be no scheduled press briefing, but would give an hour's notice for an impromptu press conference! A one hour's notice for an impromptu news conference? Is she related to Moose?
