It looks like it was just Dumb and Dumber trying to cash in on the sniper business after all. **sigh** I am of the opinion that these two were manipulated by the shooter cell. e.g. "I'll give you $300 to call this telephone number at that phone and at so-and-so time. Here's a hundred bucks, I'll give the the rest when you return."

Also, Freeper on post titled "Sources: Sniper arrests this morning not adding up" says he saw a screen crawl on CNN that says Gitmo detainees are being moved to Pakistan. Anyone else see this? Coincidence?OMG, I hope that's wrong!!!!!!!! How the hell can we win this war if the powers that be are going to capitulate to every demand??????

Did you see the rest of the article mentioning the Mexican flag bumper sticker?
I though you might find it interesting:
"Television camera close-ups showed what appeared to be a Mexican flag sticker in the bottom left corner of the van's rear window."
That's the last paragraph describing the stickers witnesses saw on the van, here are the first two:
"The witness said he saw a National Rifle Association bumper sticker on the van, and a dealer nameplate from a "Three Amigos Auto Sales." The van also had Bush/Cheney and POW/MIA bumper stickers." "Internet searches reveal two businesses named "Three Amigos Auto Sales" -- one in El Paso, Texas, and the other in Modesto, Calif."
NRA member, POW/MIA remembering, Bush/Cheney voting, mainstream Republican Mexicans, Reconquista types moving east?
I can't even begin to guess most people's reactions to this.
My head's spinning...

If that is the case, they should release him: drawn and quatered and deep-fried in pig fat.

Now CNN is reporting that the two subjects in custody are "significant". Well doesn't it just revolve around which reporter is reporting, and what their favorite theory is?

The curious thing is why Moose cancelled the press conference, after he said he was preparing a response to the sniper.
I am as confused as anyone. I do not think that two Hispanics would be that dumb, although one never knows (about trying to get ransom for a case they weren't originally involved in). Of course, I wouldn't have thought a man with a criminal record would make up a story to the police in this high profile case.
I still lean towards terrorism, especially with the schools closed. Police told Katherine Herridge that this is a VERY sensitive time in the investigation.
I am done speculating, since I actually have NO idea what is going on!

I just went back and looked at what time I posted what I heard about the phone book incident. Looks like that happened around 9:30am. So, I think you're right about keeping an eye on the Opal, Va. situation. Could be related.

I don't believe what Vester is saying is verifiable anywhere else.

"I'll give you $300 to call this telephone number at that phone and at so-and-so time. Here's a hundred bucks, I'll give the the rest when you return."Now if that's the case, these 2 need a brain transplant. Or maybe they don't speak English and don't listen to the news. LOL.

Is it POSSIBLE that there WAS a note from the REAL sniper and a couple of GOOFBALLS also placed at note at "Burger King, or Texaco, OR Blimpies" and called the police from the Pay phone (the same one they were busted at today) and said...I am the "SNIPER" I have left a note at Texaco/Blimpies/Burger King...and the GOOFBALLS didn't realize they have now left the "second" note...and set themselves up to be busted as EXTORTIONISTS!!!
The sniper is NOT sniping for money or to make a living...he is sniping to kill people and taunt the police...

"The move would be the first release of detainees to their home country under a policy that they can be returned if they no longer pose a threat or have no intelligence value." Concessions to the sniper?

CNN is also reporting that the 2 men arrested were illegal aliens (of course, they used the PC term). Now, there's a surprise < /sarcasm>
I wonder if they're registered Democrats???
