Whoa! Powell couldnt have said that without approval from the higher ups though, right?

I also don't believe the locals are in charge..the only reason Moose is the headliner, IMO, is that the sniper chose him, and it wouldn't surprise me that Moose shudders each and everytime he has to relay a message..

With all the advanced technology that they're using throughout this investigation, I wonder WHY they haven't been able to take him down?... He seems to know in advance what the police are going to do. Mole in the investigation?
If Linda Franklin was targeted specifically as an FBI analyst involved in the sniper investigation, how was the sniper able to identify and track her. The same explanation suggests itself.

The police found the note but missed the time to be at the phone booth. Moose called a press conference and said we got your message, call us at the number you left. (Moose just didn't explain to us, that they missed the time).

Money . . . I'm thinking the Sniper(s) doesn't want the money directly . . . trying to get it delivered to some third party . . . who? where? . . . is there such a thing as a safe haven for terrorists in the world? . . . wire transfer to a bank account in Tehran, let's say? . . . the other part of the money trail - what kind of bounty do you think Saddam (or Osama) has on U.S. citizens? Is somebody racking up a major payday for his family back home?

"I'm also interested in knowing who's leaking the info.. "Ping to that! I've decided that leakers will never get caught nor will they get a consequence.

I think the worst that can happen is your IP address gets logged by Microsoft when you set up the hotmail account (with bogus info, of course), and it probably also gets logged a second time when you set up the Angel.com account.
You could set these up from a public terminal, or through a proxy server to mask your true location (aol routes everyone through proxies - it really sucks if you're load balancing across multiple servers and trying to maintain server side sessions). There's people a lot smarter than me that could explain IP spoofing, and if it would be possible in this case.

It is very difficult for me to believe that in this day and age that ANY anonymity is possible online.

I heard some report (who can remember what was reported and from whom?????) that the sniper had called the cops and told them that he had left them a note.
Also, am I the only one rolling their eyes at most of these experts? C'mon.....retired/former fbi guys ('profilers') who can't seem to think outside the box, shrinks----each one with a differnet profile, former cops (one who apparently left his dentures in a glass on the nightstand). Let's get some new blood in here (sorry for the poor choice of words).

If Mr. Frenchman is the shooter, he obviously wouldn't know the local roads. He's got to have help on his team so that he can navigate. And he's pretty much helpless if he's by himself.

it wouldn't surprise me that Moose shudders each and everytime he has to relay a message..Me neither. Maybe we should start a support group for Moose. Just kidding... Seriously, most FReepers are way too mean to him.

I'm just the messenger on this one. What makes it curious is that it's still not being mentioned on the news. Drudge has it, Newsmax has a piece now (don't throw things at me), and it looks like the world has been at least told of this missing guy.
Why not post a picture of this guy, so we can find him, France? If he's sighted somewhere, or found somewhere far from Washington, then it ain't him. If America's Most Wanted did a story on him, and calls were to pour in giving sightings of this guy on a beach blanket in Hawaii, we can rule out Mr. AWOL pants from France. If, however, calls come in from all over VA, MD and DC, we'd at least know who we were looking for.

That's a new thought, thanks. Matthews' panel conclude it will take major stroke of luck for LEO's to catch this/these killer/s. Van Zant says killer has taken 5 million hostages. Us.

See post 1209 for my take on Moose. I think he did better today than many give him credit for. He probably saved at least one life.

Thanks for the info and link. I'm embarrassed to say that I've not paid a lot of attention to the first WTC bombing and info surrounding it. I was in college when it happened..and had my heads in books in what little spare time I had. Am going to read that link now. I guess we can now say that we "have" to take their threats seiously.
