You are correct.
We just finished 8 years of "Do it if it feels good" Government, and we didnt learn a thing, because we let that criminal get away with his actions.
Lesson learned: It's okay to lie if it means beating a Republican.
Conservatives have allowed themselves to be beaten into a corner, where they are more concerned about being called names, than upholding the law.
Now, most of them are hiding behind Ann Coulter's skirt. This country is nothing but a memory. It isnt going to get any better, only worse, and when it does, Atlas is going to shrug, and it is going to be an awesome thing, as the Liberals are left to fend for themselves.

Yeah, God help us if I have to rely on you and your kind to fight.Any chance you "boys" will have a secret sign or signal so I will not offend you by accidentally defending your behinds in any way, shape, or form?
I would not want to inadvertantly offend your almighty testosterone heavy mentallity with actual feminine procured bullets and bombs.Who knows what kind of punishment I would endure for saving your wannabe warrior butts.
Trust me, I have not in the past, present, or conceivably in the future, ever intentionally wasted lead or any other weapons for the defense of those of your ilk.
You can continue on, in your raptuous misogeny, secure in the knowledge that no woman in the USA would knowingly or willingly contribute to your personal defence, except by sheer accident! In this case, I feel free to speak on behalf of all my fellow female comrads in arms.Past, Present, and Future.

But VA is a soverign state and has the authority to close schools even if it makes people in other states angry.
Of course they do, but that doesn't mean the rest of the country can't comment. If we couldn't comment on what other States did or didn't do then 1/2 the stuff on FR would be out of bounds.
NJ and FLA elections, gun laws of various states, etc. come to mind.

There are silver linings to even the darkest clouds.
If this causes more people to home school and educate their children themselves and become less dependent on an over regulating, over burdonsome government ... that is good.
In my post number 280 I refer to this type of effect. These events will ultimately lead to good things ... it's just a matter IMHO of how much hardship and adversity we pass through before we get there and figure it out. Such is the case with any principle or undertaking or goal or prize of truly great worth. Our liberty, based on those rights endowed upon us by the Creator is such a jewel.

I'm sure the authorities appreciate that information being reported. The sniper must be dancing a jig, from all of this publicity.
"Ha! I shut the schools down!" Maybe next he will go for Wall Street? The sniper should be ignored. He will make a mistake eventually, and when he does, I hope his brains are splattered across Virginia.

"We just finished 8 years of "Do it if it feels good" Government" Yes we did, now we are into the "No controlling legal authority" phase.

I could not believe my ears! This information supposedly came from LE! They need to reel in the media and reel them in FAST!

"It isnt going to get any better, only worse, and when it does, Atlas is going to shrug, and it is going to be an awesome thing, as the Liberals are left to fend for themselves."
I'm afraid you might just be right. I sure hope not, but reactions SO FAR indicate a strong possibility.

If this causes more people to home school and educate their children themselves and become less dependent on an over regulating, over burdonsome government ... that is good. Home schooling is not economically feasible for a lot of people. Private school is also not economically feasible for a lot of people. If the sniper mentioned a threat in the note about children it would make sense that the schools would have to shut down. If they received a threat and they kept the schools open, and a kid got shot .. well you know .. the school system would have been negligent and everyone on this post would be slamming the schools for not shutting down.

My thoughts exactly Bud. They deserve a bump.

Looks like a LOT more than just the children will be staying home tomorrow (or should I say later today). With a large number of households now having both parents working. Since they do not usually need anyone during school hours to care for their children they are therefore, unprepared for this closure. It looks like LOTS of employers will NOT be having their employees reporting for work as well!

No greater love than that ... a love and an attitude worthy of noting and remembering and immulating IMHO. I agree.

Just heard on local news that Virginia Newpaper is reporting that a substancial amount of writing was on note left at crime scene last night and that SEVERAL Terro cards have been left at crime scences!Did they name the paper?

Good point. What about parents who can't take time off work?
Will their kids be wandering the streets? Will they be safer?
To: newsperson999
WOW!!! We got out of town just in time! We were in Roanoke Rapids, NC headed south when the shooter struck in Ashland. Hiding out now in Myrtle Beach. If they don't catch him/them, we will just have to stay holed up here.

Pitiful and shameful, isn't it? My father was on bombing runs over Germany at 19 years old. Prisoner of War for one year in Germany after being shot down over Denmark. A gentleman I recently met at a reunion tried to rescue my brother from a burning helicopter in Vietnam. He was 19 at the time. BTW my brother died, 23 years old.

Closing schools is the same line of thinking that believes outlawing guns will make society safer. Nicely stated.

Clearly you are not a parent. Or did you forget that a child was shot on his way into a school building.
To: SarahW
my kids are in school in Falls Church, this has been going on for 2.5 weeks. they have been in lockdown, with recess and phys. ed. indoors. Closing schools is not the answer, or else Montgomery Co. Fairfax, PG Co. and all the other surrounding areas would have been closed for the past month.
