This was a Clinton/Boxer protest I went to a couple years back at the Mark Hopkins hotel. We outnumbered the lefty 'supporters' around the the corner, 500 of us to about 30 of them. We were LOUD and raucous. The tourists thought we were nuts and we reamed the media too when they showed up! It was a hoot for sure.

Excelent job, STL! The more we get the word out to the media the better the chance for a good turnout.

BRAVO!!! Be safe, be loud, be strong, have a couple of people taking pictures...I have some medical issues to deal with, but if I can squeeze a couple of hours to hop on the train and make it up there, I will. I will make sure this is posted in some other locations. Make sure that someone or two bring megaphones...~$75 at radio shack for the big one.

Hi thunderdome. : ) Thanks for your help! That'd be great if you can make it! (I still consider you one of our leaders. : )) Depending on the "Overwhelmation by the 'Peace-ful-ofit-niks'" Meter will depend on how long we remain at City Hall. We're then thinking of going over to Van Ness Ave. and McAllister (one block away.)

Hope things are well. FRegards. : )

Clinton in the Black Hall of Fame!

What a joke. I guess they didn't hear the tape of Roger Clinton saying 'ni**er this and ni**er that???'

I wouldn't doubt it if they also put OJ in there! Character does not matter!

Maybe I'll make my first Freep. Where around Van Ness is the parking? I'm in southern Marin so this should be easy.

*As nastypumps noted earlier, it may not be the wisest to park at the Civic Center Plaza Garage. Although convenient, the Plaza will be SWARMING with anti-Americans, some who have a hatred for the colors red, white and blue. So, safety is an issue.

Hi AP,

Okay, I tried finding out about the permit and was sent down a spiral of bureaucratic insanity! I ended up being transferred or referred to 6 city offices, getting full voicemail boxes, dealing with inept bureaucrats who thought I was calling on behalf of the anti-war crowd and more fun stuff. Our taxpayer dollars at work! Needless to say, it wasn't much fun.

In the end, it turns out that I needed to talk to the office I first called (isn't that always the way?). It's the SFPD Permit office and the number is 553-1115. The information I got was incomplete and didn't make much sense, but here goes. First someone there told me that we didn't need a permit if we didn't have amplified sound (bullhorns are okay). But the last person I talked to there said that we "couldn't do it." I asked if that meant we needed a permit. She said they wouldn't grant us a permit at the same time and place (even though we're meeting an hour earlier) as the other event.

I simply can't believe that a small group of protesters can't meet at the same larger event as the others. This doesn't make any sense to me, but that's city government for ya! My only conclusion is that we just go ahead with our plans and if they kick us out, we'll head off down Van Ness. Or if anyone else wants to take a crack at it, feel free. Keep your blood pressure medicine nearby!

Sorry all, but I tried!

If you like views go to the Mountain View Cemetary (interesting place in it's own right) at the East end of Piedmont Avenue and drive to the top. Awesome view of much of the Bay Area.

Tilden Park and Inspiration Point for a view of the backside of the Berkely Hills - if you like to hike this is it.

The Exploratorium in SF is always good - at The Palace of Fine Arts.

I plan on joining Sat in SF - much as I try and stay on this side of the bridge.
