Roger says- the release of information about his child support debt was the release of personal information. You have to be a complete wacko if you think that's an appropriate act by a government employee.

Roger thinks public officials are supposed to "shut up and take it". The whack jobs that defend this deadbeat would rather control the flow of information.

There's also things that money *can* buy...like an education or a car to go to work with. Look around this thread...there's a lot of men who think money is a lot more important than a marriage or the kids they made. Their whole lives are an embittered, enraged mess because they have to pay years of support for their children. I think this guy you write about owes your daughters bigtime...but if he's a sicko that'd burn his car rather than see his daughters clothed and educated, I guess you are indeed better off.

He's probably somewhere on FR's disgruntled divorced dad ping list.

It's a small world after all. :-)

This opens up a whole new field for the gov't to pursue, now that it has established from the top down that Islam is a religion of peace (those Saudi Muslims must have made a wrong turn by flying planes into the WTC.)  Now, besides the FBI identifying in their own literature those who quote the Bible and founding fathers as the real terrorists, and stopping everyone in a white van, they can go after screwed-over fathers with flaming vehicles bereaved unfairly of their kids and too much of their money.  Those certainly must be the real terrorists.  I must say that seeing the massive control of the gov't in child areas, I am surprised that the guy can afford a car at all, much less a Mercedes.  But that must be the way the Mercedes benz.

Good point, the only time a father is good is if he has some form of abnomality. (ie homosexual, blind, gave up job to be artist)

Part of the problem is fathers are rightfully angry over being reduced to a mere checkbook. The support system is only about money. How about making the support system respond to the fathers' who have been denied support? Often the support workers just say "not my department" or "thats for the judge to decide". So you wait anywhere between 2 weeks to three months for a hearing on the issue of visitation. Then there is a hobsons choice for the father: 1. the mother goes to jail for contempt for disobeying a court order for visitation and the children and "mommy" will say daddy sent mommy to jail or 2. reach areement to "make up" visitation after the damage is done. Either way the system is not designed and judge do not have the intestinal fortitude to agressivly enforce visitation. Share parental responsiblity is a legal euphamism that was adopted to keep non custodial parents on the financial hook. (if a parent has sole responsibility then they are solely responsible.)

Perhaps the system should be fixed by parents who are in the system.

You men want an easy way out. Work on your marriages more, and you won't have to deal with these problems in the first place.

Are you kidding me? You would not believe how hard my cousins worked to keep their marriages going. The number one reason for divorce is $$$$ money $$$$, toots. Green. It was certainly the case regarding my two cousins. Working at a marriage would appear to be a big mistake. These husbands have to earn over 100 grand before the filing rate shifts from female to male. Time would be better spent being a workaholic mule for the wife. Time with 'the fam' is for suckers, statistically speaking.

Todays' wife is slowly beginning to become more of a prostitution racket for cash and less of a true, genuine, SACRED vow.

This is not meant to offend women who do not think that way. But women who collect child support... guess what? The leading reason [$$$$$$] is that a high percentage of them have the mindsets of whores.

Sorry, but that is how the stats add up.

oops typo:

this" How about making the support system respond to the fathers' who have been denied support?"

should be:
"How about making the support system respond to the fathers' who have been denied visitation?"

this site needs a way to edit your own posts.

The majority of divorces are initiated by women. It's the women who see divorce as the easy solution: get rid of the man, but keep hold of his money

If wife-initiated divorce meant that the man would walk away and not be required to pay one penny more than he felt like voluntarily paying, more wives would be motivated to "work on the marriage more"

Whereas I know that I did the best I could for my daughters. We always ate, and always had warm clothes. There never was any money (still isn't), but we made it. And now, because we live in this great country, their futures are as bright as the efforts they wish to expend. Sure, they will have to figure out how to finance higher education, but they have opportunities.

My ex, on the other hand, has screwed himself. His daughters never want to see him or establish any kind of communication. He is, I am sure, a very lonely and bitter man.

Ouch, true... but Ouch.

There was another thread on FR a while back which had a news report about men not wanting to marry. The gist was that men did not want to maryy because they did not want what women had to offer.

You don't have to marry to find yourself paying child support. About the only way to absolutely prevent such a circumstance is chastity or sterilization.

I do seem to notice a trend of women flipping out like this AFTER having children and I'm starting to suspect some link between hormonal turmoil and bad decision making (not to excuse it, but I wish women would consider the possibility before making any sort of big decisions like this).

You're not the only one who thinks this. I know women who have done this or some who have been tempted to (myself included).

I think it may be related to post-partum depression, but the symptoms include a feeling of being trapped, like a wild animal, and minor things get blown out of proportion. Some women choose to leave their husbands at a time when they and the children need them the most. She may be sorry three years from now, but that won't do the poor guy any good!

In any case, the experience is beyond reason. I can't explain it, but I do remember a good friend of mine told me that she didn't think women should make any life-changing decisions until at least three years after childbirth, because that's when she gets her common sense back and not running on hormones. It also helped to have a very supportive husband who is a good listener!

Part of the irrational behavior is the forever being linked to someone you do not love/or care about (if ever). Suddenly the child is a permaned bond between the two adults. The child is screwed either way. Do young adult women even understand fatherhood anymore? (father of the children from the start fatherhood. Not just some substitute to raise her mistake.)

Not necessarily. I loved my husband and our marriage was good! Still, I can say that I was the one who was not rational, and apparently, this post-birth psychosis is a common problem that has yet to be addressed by any of the women's groups.

Revising child custody laws will do absolutely nothing to correct the situation.

Incorrect. Institute laws mandating that, short of being proven criminally unfit, fathers have automatic custody of all their children, and everything improves markedly.

Unfortunately there is now way, repeat NO WAY, to insure that my support payments actually go to the kids.

Laws need to change.

You know, a society where fathers automatically got custody, and their ex-wives got child support obligations, would be very interesting!
