That kid wasn't supposed to be there that day. Think the shooter positioned himself and seeing few kids, took the shot. Maybe gut shot was best shot he could get off because of trees, etc. or the shot got deflected by a branch..who knows!!

I got interrupted here....daughter walked in and I couldn't hear much.
Not discussing what has been found, what hasn't been found, not speculating, not releasing victim's name

Suffice to say that any shot into a head or torso is usually a death shot.I think so too. If it's not by accident, it's meant to kill.

I prefer listening to this no-nonsense speaker instead of Moose. Even though he is not releasing any info, he doesn't cow-tow to the media.
To: nicmarlo
I got the feeling the feds are using Moose because they think he can communicate with the perps. On the other hand the FBI has not been seen in a real positive light over the last four years and maybe they aren't too keen on having a high profile on a case they can't seem to crack.

Acting as if it is [sniper related] and will continue to until they know it is not. No more press conferences unless anything knew is found out.
To: nicmarlo
Well, that makes more sense. I hate press conferences called to tell us that they don't know anything, or that they aren't going to tell us anything. Those are pointless.

That kid wasn't supposed to be there that day.Could you elaborate?

they think [Moose] can communicate with the perps . . . Maybe so, but I don't think so, myself.
To: Carolinamom
I agree...The Moose would still be up at the microphone saying *we can't answer that*.
To: Carolinamom
This guy is no Moose!
He in no uncertain terms defined to the press who's the "tail" and who's the "dog."

How much shrubbery are we talking about here? Not much in Manassas or Falls Church. I haven't seen the other sites.

On the other thread last night, they were calling one of the police officers that spoke "Elton John." (I liked him much better than Moose.) Then, I guess, the Police Chief of Ashland took over (I don't like him). He came out and interrupted "Elton John" and said there'd be no more press conferences until/unless more info. "Elton John" was saying he'd do one at the top of every hour/bottom of every hour.....wonder if the FBI sent in the "Chief" so less info would be posted.....

The day before (or so) the kid was kicked off the bus for "eating candy" believe it or not and his guardian wound up driving him that day. I believe he arrived a little earlier than usual and think, if I remember right, the buses are on the other side of the building and he wouldn't ordinarily be going into the school from that entrance as far as I can tell.

I think so also, retired FBI type on CNN this morning, saying the same thing. He stated he couldn't understand why the FBI hadn't taken it over as this is what they are good at, etc.
To: nicmarlo
The officer speaking, who actually impressed me quite a bit, said that they were awaiting results from forenscis before they could link this to the sniper for sure. Sounds like they've got something. Bet the sniper's leaving a message. My only quuestion is if it was helpful to release the anthrax letters right away, why are they holding back in this case?

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of this sad detail.
