Sniper rumors abound

Oct. 17 - The D.C. sniper clearly has people on edge. Wednesday night, a routine traffic stop near the Henrico-Hanover county line spawned lots of speculation....

The man was driving a "white van. He was later arrested on an outstanding warrant from Richmond. State police say the arrest is not related to the sniper case.

And an e-mail that circulated in the area Wednesday had everybody looking at Virginia Center Commons. That email said there had been a specific threat of a sniper attack there. Police say they had "no evidence" of such a threat and they are trying to track down who started the apparent e-mail hoax....

I live outside the beltway in DC area and work inside the beltway (Falls Church). I do make a fair number of trips to Norfolk on business, and always fill-up in Ashland. It's a major truck stop area, so I know it quite well..

between the internet rumors and the stuff the media is putting out it's pretty hard to know what is going on.

Well, that will teach me to read mail before posting. The new thread this morning probably IS irrelevant and not sure how much it's helping keep down vanities. Was going to stop posting the thread after today, but with this new shooting perhaps will keep going. Reading last night's 2000+ replies on a different thread, some enemies were made last night among Freepers - starting around 4:00 a.m. Course, I'm not too friendly at thath our either.

It seems that the sniper has "help" in laying low between shootings ... and his "helpers" do not seem interested in the $500,000.
