Let's say for two weeks: The Police issue a statement that when you enter your car, turn the radio to a certain station. In the event of another sniper attack, we will give you instructions.

For example, they would break in and say: there has been a sniper shooting at x & x in Maryland. If you are in the vicinity, please stop your car. Whether something like this would work, we don't know but I agree it will take something like this to stop these people and we ALL have a car radio.

The only problem is, how far can the sniper travel on foot in the 5 minutes it takes to get the broadcast out and how many different people are driving this "clean" van or whatever, if it is part of this at all.

The Emergency sirens should be reserved as the highest warning.

Maybe an amber alert type system (which someone has suggested might work best) and it could be in place forever. The one good thing about the car radio is that it is its' own source of electricity.

And the instructions we be:

"Make sure you have a pen.... and write everything you see on your belly!"

LOL! Sac, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. I laughed for a full hour after that yesterday.

Sac, I think you're right.

One of the things that has bothered me most about this is how unprepared we were/are for such attacks.

Homeland Security should bring back the old CD - Civil Defense - strategy, have drills, have emergency warnings, and give the civilian targets some idea of how to protect themselves. Of course, since the Dems are firmly wedded to the protective power of civil service and unions, I guess this will never happen...
