McBride’s Story About Vicious Remarks Challenged by Veteran Washington Post Reporter

Tallahassee -- McBride’s story about vicious remarks challenged by veteran Washington Post reporter. The veteran Washington Post reporter who yesterday broke the story about Bill McBride’s refusal to repudiate the recent vicious comments made by one of his supporters against Gov. Jeb Bush and his family, today challenged McBride’s assertion that he did not know about the remarks when he was asked for comment about them.

The Post yesterday reported that just prior to McBride joining as an in-studio guest on Victor Curry’s Miami radio program, Curry verbally assaulted the Governor and his family, at one point saying that the Bush family and the bin Laden family were business “‘partners’ seeking to profit from war.” Curry went on to say of the Bush family, “These people are on a neo-Nazi, right-wing mission against the American people.” He concluded calling the Bush administration a “Godless, wicked regime.” McBride later refused to repudiate Curry’s remarks, saying he had not heard them and was unaware of them.

But David Von Drehle, the well-respected national correspondent from the Post who wrote the story, told the Miami Herald today that, contrary to McBride’s claim that he was unaware, McBride was in fact read each of the remarks before asked for comment, and still failed to condemn them.

Today’s Herald reports, “Von Drehle, a veteran national correspondent who interviewed McBride in a car shortly after the radio appearance, said Wednesday he specifically read each of Curry’s remarks to McBride, offering the candidate ample opportunity to respond. ‘I read each of them to him, and his answer was the one I quoted in the story,’ Von Drehle said.”

“It’s bad enough that Bill McBride would sit by and let one of his supporters make such vicious and personal attacks against Gov. Bush and his family,” stated Bush-Brogan Communications Director Todd Harris. “But to then distort the truth about it, pretending he was unaware of the remarks when asked to comment, makes the whole thing all the worse. Bill McBride has shown once again that he does not have the political courage to stand up to his supporters, even when he knows they are wrong. He still has not repudiated Curry for his remarks, nor has he called on Curry to apologize for them.”

Just like clinton's purjury and treason . "Nothing here, let's move on.

Now, thanks to clinton, North Korea not only has nuclear weapons , but the system to deliver them to Alaska and Hawii.

And from a Washington Post reporter to boot! Believe this is going to hurt McBride and we need to keep it front and center!

Now the Washington Post found what the rest of us already knew -- McBride is a liar in the mold of clinton/gore/mcauliffe. But then this is the same McBride that said he understands the poor as he lives in the poorer part of Hillsborough County but neglected to mention he has a very expensive house on acreage that he uses for a tax break!

Will I be considered "poor" after I make my first SIX MILLION? I'm just glad McB missed the Senior Expo today in St. Pete; an opportunity he missed to glad hand out of state. They're going to try to pull this off - but like I said quite a few times, Jeb's got an ARMY.

Oh, and we have the Governor Bush Prayer Thread for anyone who needs a spiritual pick me up. The prayer for Jeb, et al, is #33. Fregards, FV

"Let's hope Cameron keeps on it."

If his past performance is an indication, I think he will. I will e-mail the article tonight, in case you didn't. It won't hurt for them to get it twice.

"Is this Curry guy a freeper? I read those same kind of remarks here all of the time."

LOL. I doubt that he's a FReeper, but you're right. Unfortunately, we read the same kind of stuff about the Bush family here all the time.

How any knowledgeable person can even consider voting for an inarticulate Clinton-Clone like McBride/McAuliffe is beyond me. Let's hope that those who are considering such a thing come to their senses before November 5.

"And from a Washington Post reporter to boot! Believe this is going to hurt McBride and we need to keep it front and center!"

I've located the initial story in the Washington Post:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A32140-2002Oct15.html

And the follow-up story that relates exactly how David Von Drehle tried to elicit a rebuke of the Curry comments from McBride/McAuliffe in the Miami Herald:

http://www.miami.com/mld/miami/4300593.htm

These articles together provide confirmation (for those who need it) of the press release from the Bush-Brogan '02 campaign:

http://www.jeb.org/News.asp?Lang=1&TextMode=False&FormMode=Release&ID=556

Now, lets see if we can keep it going! As you stated:

"..the Washington Post found what the rest of us already knew -- McBride is a liar in the mold of clinton/gore/mcauliffe."

windchime, you are about to witness the greatest attempt of voter-fraud ever attempted in this country, right here in Florida!

The democRATS are determined to validate their fraud of 2000 by defeating Jeb Bush, and they will spare no expense!

Expect Miami, Dade, and Broward Counties to be totally f*cked-up! And once again, Boca Raton will get in the ass. Sorry, Gene. At least Jesse-Pokechop won't try his crap again!

Stay well armed and vigilant, kids.............FRegards

I believe you're correct, gonzo. That is exactly what I have been expecting. How are their efforts thwarted?

My comments regarding people coming to their senses before November 5 referred to FReepers right here on this forum who indicate a willingness to vote for McBride/McAuliffe. No fraud needed there.

Egad! You're the only other person here to use the word 'Thwarted'!

Don't worry, kiddo. When the rubber-meets-the-road, we've learned how to do it! Doctor Gene, aka 'Seeking-the-truth', and JimRob showed us how!

LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!

I've BEEN "READY TO RUMBLE"!!!

I agree that the Marxist RATS and their useful idiots will stop at nothing in their power grab for Florida. Their past efforts have been sand-box stuff compared to what they're gonna try this time.

They're going to use their RAT lawyers to contest everything under the sun.

We gotta FReep like we've never FReeped before!! When dealing with snakes we gotta think like snakes and stay ten steps ahead of them.

Name the time and the place and OldGlory and I'll be there!

"If I was Jeb I ask McBride why he lied about where he lives...."

That would be an excellent question for FReeper protest signs too.

I'm in the process of making up a list of questions that I think Jeb ought to ask "The Great Pretender Aw-Shucks McMumble", who like Algore reinvents himself to be whatever he thinks will fly with the voters.

I think it would be fun to rewrite the words to the song, "The Great Pretender" and sing it at our McBride protest FReeps.

Come on gang! Let's have some suggestions for lyrics!

Here are the first three questions I've come up with:

Questions for Jeb to ask "Aw Shucks McMumble" - the Down-Home Pretender who spent last Friday [10-18-02] with Bill "it all depends on what the meaning of "is" is" Clinton:

[1] Why are you attempting to mislead people about where you live and trying to hide the fact that you are by far the wealthiest candidate?

Washington Post FACTS: ". . . . He and his wife, a retired bank executive, used to file joint tax returns. Shortly before announcing his bid for governor, they switched to separate returns. As a result, McBride could claim the smallest net worth of any major candidate -- when for all practical purposes he is by far the richest.

McBride lives in a spacious house on 30 lakeside acres outside Tampa, in an area in which a comparable home recently listed for just under $1 million. But in a 1999 speech, McBride said, "I live in a poor area of my state. The only time many of my neighbors see a lawyer is when the lawyer is representing the mobile home park owner evicting them." . . . ."

[2] Who do you think will be fooled when you, who until recently was a managing partner of one of America's largest law corporations, pretend that you don't understand big words and phrases? The Washington Post says that in your stump speeches around Florida, you pretend to be flummoxed by the expression "statistical margin of error." What a low opinion you must have of the voters to think they would be dumb enough to fall for that.

Washington Post: "Though he is the retired managing partner of one of America's largest law firms -- with a personal specialty in banking law -- he pretends in stump speeches to be flummoxed by the expression "statistical margin of error."

Touting the polls that show him within a few percentage points of Bush, the candidate tells audiences, "We're within what they call the, uh -- I don't know all the lingo -- the, uh, sta-tis-ti-cal margin of, um -- "

McBride looks around the room, brow furrowed.

"Error," someone says.

"Error!" McBride repeats, his face brightening. "Which means it's real close."

[3] You used to be a corporate big-wig. But now that you you've decided to run for governor, you've morphed into this carefully cultivated "aw-shucks, I don't understand them big words, moseyin' man of the people" image. The Washington Post describes this new "aw-shucks aura" of yours as being "essential to" your "canny strategy". Who do you hope to fool with this latest reinvention of yourself?

Washington Post: "His campaign is rooted in this moseyin' man of the people mien, and McBride carefully cultivates the image.

The aw-shucks aura is essential to McBride's canny strategy .."
