NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--At least one member of al-Qaida now in custody has told U.S. investigators he witnessed training by three man sniper squads practicing to launch attacks on U.S. soil, ABC News reported Thursday.
The claim is made by an al-Qaida member being held for allegedly plotting to blow up the U.S. embassy in Paris, the report said.
The man was questioned by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation this week in Belgium, ABC News said.
While officials investigating the recent sniper attacks in the Washington D.C. area are looking into the possibility of a terrorist connection to the shootings, it isn't their leading theory, the network said.
ABC News and other news organizations have reported FBI agents are questioning some al-Qaida members held in Guantanamo, Cuba, about the possibility of a terrorist link to the sniper attacks.

anyone see that strange post that got pulled about the shootings being in the shape of a pentagram? Was it pulled due to tinfoil? Im looking at the site it mentioned..

"There is NO EVIDENCE that the sniper is an Islamic militant, NONE, NADA! "But then again there is no evidence that he is not an Islamic terrorist.

Get a grip! There is NO EVIDENCE that the sniper is an Islamic militant, NONE, NADA! And there is no evidence that it is NOT a an Islamic adherent. Law enforcement has ruled nothing out at this time.

"There is NO EVIDENCE that the sniper is an Islamic militant, NONE, NADA! "I was away on vacation during most of the sniper incidents so I'm not certain of the time lines, but I have heard that so far there have been 9 killings in 11 days.
If this is the case and if the killings cease then the symbolism would strongly suggest an Islamist terrorist or a sympathizer.

Al Queda has history of using Low Tech, Low Dollar, many bangs for the buck Terrorism. Smart, Low Dollar Terrorism with little to no bragging to general public.
I think the terrorist sniper is out to destroy what America is about. The consumer, Freedom of movement without looking over shoulder. He is using the pattern/symbolism below to make his point.
Alternating Black <-> White shooting pattern....(historical Symbolism of American race)going about everyday american
activities. (Shopping, School, Fueling Car, Cutting Grass)
Last 7 shootings beyond coincidence IMO....
13 Black ?
12 White Female (per news conference)
11 Black Male
10 White Male
09 Black Boy
08 White Woman (I think this was a woman at Michaels)
07 Black Man
06 White Woman
1-5 Shootings was Meant to generate Media, Police attention to ramp up terror quickly.
The only clearly Non-Black/Non-White people that got shot. An Indian male had *United states* flag stickers clearly marking his car. The Latino Woman was sitting outside a *United States* Post office.
I'm thinking the Sniper is shooting people equally who
are mostly associated to Historical America in last 7 shootings...White and Black race.

if the man has had access to tv news, then his claims are tainted.
if the guantanamo prisoners are denied access to outside media (and they should be) then their claims might be more relevant.

Uh, oh! Here comes next week's headlines:
When officials were downplaying terrorism as a possibility, the questions must now be asked, "What did FBI officials know about terrorist snipers, when did they know it, and why wasn't the public warned?"
To: FootBall
I like your analysis of the pattern of victims. It is something I have not seen anywhere else.
I am also taken by the most recent shooting at the Home Depot given that the shooter was presented with both a female and a male as potential targets. Given the choice why did he select the female? Try this out.
Given the situation it was easy for the shooter to deduce that the pair was husband and wife. Moreover what does every husband feel his job in life is? To protect their wife and family, could the female have been selected to send the message that you cannot protect your wife's and families? Just a thought.

I felt as you do until it was revealed that the gun being used is believed to be a variant of the AK-74. After studying the AK-74, I believe it is a terrorist. Now a lull, after 11 shots and 9 kills.

Supposedly the AK-74 info was from that bogus witness. I'm not sure but the same witness may have also given the white guy, blue shirt story.

Found this article *excerpt* about Al Queda incorporating american training tactics into their training....including sniping..
"It had been cribbed from an appendix in a Marine Corps manual seeking to standardize sniper training, a copy of which was found with terrorist course schedules in a Harkat house in Kabul."

Would that be the witness who said he saw the shooter get out of the van, take a shot, then get back in the van?

Would Ali Mohamed, who spent so much time at Ft. Bragg and who was largely responsible for developing the al Qaeda training program, have gone through sniper training in the U.S.?
To: Kerberos
I don't know about the timeline, I would have to look it up but there have been 9 deaths in 11 attempts. Accidental.. I would say they sniper(s) was planning on 11 deaths..
To: 1tin_soldier
But wait......the first article I saw about the sniper shootings said the police knew nothing but that it wasn't a terrorist attack. Second paragraph, I believe. So obviously it can't be a terrorist attack.....it's probably some home schooler..............;>) Do you have the source and quote on that?
To: Texas Mom
"Accidental.. I would say they sniper(s) was planning on 11 deaths"Yeah I think it is just a coincidence also, but it is still kind of eerie.
