in other words, the weapon being used could be narrowed waaaaay down to
1/1,750,000 (or whatever) weapons extant with the ability to fire .223 ammo.

i have very little doubt that we're all bein' sandbagged,

You may be right.....I heard a ex-cop on one of the talk shows say that it may take one or two more shootings to catch this guy....that's a scary thought...the reporterette failed to ask if he doesn't shoot again..will he get caught.
