WASHINGTON (AP) -- Missouri Sen. Jean Carnahan apologized Wednesday for commenting that the White House ``can't get Osama bin Laden, so they're going to get me.''
Made Sunday at a Democratic luncheon in Clay County, Mo., Mrs. Carnahan's remarks were greeted with laughter and applause: ``I'm the No. 1 target of the White House. They can't get Osama bin Laden, so they're going to get me.''

Welcome to politics, Mrs. Carnahan.
Did you expect a Republican White House to stump for your re-election?

That simply was not a wise move in a close race.

I understand that some people may have been offended by my comment. I certainly did not intend that, and I offer my apologies. Thanks for the non-apology Jean...

Within 48 hours, the protitute Dem press will have made Carnahan the hero of the piece and the Repubs the villians...

Is this the same grieving widow who used her husband's death to callously jump into politics? What superior moral possession does she have to cast aspersions on the tactics of others?

Funny her spokeswoman had stated earlier today that there would be no apology. Jean must have gotten a call from lil tommy.

The Widder is a pathetic excuse for a US Senator. It's no wonder she refused to go on Meet the Press to debate Jim Talent.

"``In fact, my comment was born out of a bit of frustration that I have supported this president on several of his top initiatives, including his defense budget and his tax cuts, yet the White House is still very focused on defeating me,'' she said." Rush is right, cling to a winner.

The flips and the flops.... It's a wonder she doesn't get a sprained back from doing this half gainer...... From another article earlier........
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/770067/posts Carnahan spokesman Tony Wyche defended the quote as an "off-the-cuff comment. It was not literal."
Wyche said no apology would be forthcoming.
