It passed the Senate 92-2. New York's two Democratic senators -- Sens. Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton -- were the only lawmakers voting against the bill.

Would require voters to show ID the FIRST TIME THEY VOTE? I thought you were only allowed to VOTE 1 time?

Its a step forward. But until they stop finding boxes of ballots in "warehouses" I don't expect a big bite to be taken out of the fraud. (Isn't it amazing, how they find all those ballots?)

Is a death certifcate an acceptable voter ID?
To: RobFromGa
Sounds like a good first step.

Irony is that (if I recall correctly) Florida already does require an ID card (usually driver's license)or 'voting registration card.
To: RobFromGa
A telling statistic.

Unless I am reading this wrong, I don't see how this solves anything. Identification is required to get registration, but after that, I don't see where identification is required at the time you vote. Sounds to me like you present identification at the time you register in person, or the first time you use your voter registration card if you registered by mail. AFter that, identification is not required. If that is the case, there is still a problem.

"It passed the Senate 92-2." If this is true then there must be a trojan horse in there somewhere. The 'Rats won't just roll over and give away their biggest source of strength - voter fraud. Remember it's the Evil party versus the Stupid party. It's hard to believe that the 'Pubbies haven't been tricked again.
To: RobFromGa
I'm in favor of a return to the principle that only landowners can vote,
possibly updated to read that "only taxpayers may vote."

That only makes sense. And I guarantee you it will not be enforced in NYC.
did you see Hillary!ous' returns on election day ?
I guarantee you, that for groups that are considered non participants, Black voting % is twice what it is elsewhere.

To: Neanderthal
There's no benefit for them to vote against it if it's going to pass anyway. Passing 51-49 will leave 49 having to explain why they voted against it. I can't figure out Hitlery and Schumer voting against it.
Maybe the Rats went along with this to prevent a bill requiring photo ID at each election instead of the weak requirements of this bill.

New York's two Democratic senators -- Sens. Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton -- were the only lawmakers voting against the bill. I assume no one is surprised by this.

"The 'Rats won't just roll over and give away their biggest source of strength - voter fraud."But it would be hard for even The Chappaquidick Kid to vote against "election reform" after all his blather two years ago.
"It's hard to believe that the 'Pubbies haven't been tricked again."
You do have a point there, though...

New York's two Democratic senators -- Sens. Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton -- were the only lawmakers voting against the bill.I'm from NY. Believe me, the stories about voter fraud in the Hillary election were running wild. Broken Lazio switches, dead, on life support, illegals, felons.... and nobody cared!! Election officials just took calls, and said "Thank you for calling."
To: RobFromGa
I'm a bit suspicious.
Fake drivers licenses used to be a dime a dozen. Will they check registration lists? Will they check voters off against these lists?
As long as you have inner city precincts where all the workers are Dems and all the personnel are corrupt, there are ways around this. Who is going to guarantee that a poll worker actually saw an ID?
Poll watchers seldom seem to be able to stop this kind of fraud, though perhaps they may cut down on it somewhat. I hope the Republicans will have a lot of good poll watchers out there.
