To avoid multiple vanity threads regarding any news from press conferences, let's keep a live commentary thread going again today.
The first victim, killed in Wheaton Oct. 2, worked for NOAA.
license plate (exact/full number, not partial) information on Virginia-registered vehicle, did initially go out over police radio on Monday night after most recent shootings.....
....'dark skinned' individual specifically mentioned on police radio....one report was a vehicle with a number of individuals inside (multiple suspects).....
...radio call signs attributable to the 'gold cell' of anti-snipers (a CS counter sniper detachment?) based at Ft. Belvoir, VA was active .
Further, my own eyewitness that police were staked out observing a mosque in a county in Virginia west of the capital. I am not going to volunteer which county, or town, but it is one of the number of mosques in Northern Virginia just outside of the DC area. Either they are monitoring because they expected a connection to the killing, or they are on the look out for anti Arab violence if/when the media finally anounces what people are already picking up on scanners, conservative websites have been theorizing, and now major news outlets are already starting to hint.
(Montgomery County PC Moose's comments about 'painting a whole group of people' was also a definites slip of the tongue.)
it appears that they are trying to catch the guys knowing a good description, but hung up on providing it to the general public to prevent panic or 'hate crimes' which could explode when people find out who the perps are. They cannot keep a lid on this for very long, though....people talk....people's relatives work for local law enforcement, eyewitnesses talk.....police scanners can be heard......

If the shooters are Al-Qaeda terrorists, though, I doubt that NOAA is high on their list of Evil American Government Agencies...

My hypothesis is, whether or not the shooters are Al-Qaeda, that Monday's attack could have been a "rush job" in response to the media reports of the arrest of the former Marine.
The alternative hypothesis is that the shooter wanted to get positive visual ID on this woman. That cannot be discounted. We will likely never know what she was working on specifically, and that information is crucial to concluding whether or not she was an intentional target or one of opportunity.
Thought there was supposed to be a press conference at noon.

According to her family, her job was to analyze intelligence related to anti-terrorism...could this have been more of an execution than a "random" murder? Did her job involve looking at "suspicious" websites? You can find all kinds of things on the internet these days. For instance, I was able to identify the first and last name of a U.S. government employee who landed on my company's website a while back because our web stats page identified his server hit as "firstinitial.lastname.division.agency.gov". Other non-government visitors to the site are merely identified by their ISP's server name and some fairly anonymous numbers, etc. (anonymous at least for me--I'm not real technical on this stuff at all, but I do know that even someone with basic knowledge like me was able to identify that one government employee's hit because of the way it registered in our stats).
I can not believe what I just heard ........they have numerous witnesses to this shooting and they just blew them off!!!!
