Thanks so much for posting the story (and the link to it) about the young surfers in Bali! What heroes they are.

Demonstrates the drawbacks of our islamocentric strategy.
The very military officers 'cooperating' with us may be planning attacks against us.

So, he made the bomb...izzee a MUSLIM?? THAT'S the real question, isn't it? Are the people who hired him to make the bomb Muslim??
I wish the Indonesian police would go ahead and torture the info out of him...but their prime minister is more afraid of the terrorists in her country than the public is.

"And the justification starts ramping up for the invasion of Indonesia."PLEASE shut up and take your meds. We're not going to invade Indonesia.

does an AF guy really learn how to build such high powered explosives...Pleazze. Its not that hard to wire a blasting cap to a block of C4 and rig a battery pack to detonate it. It is not rocket science. Its getting the supplies, and a military source seems likely here.

Cool (as I wring my war-mongering hands).

'Cept that here, our convicted live in hope of getting off.
In "indonesia" there is no such hope.
Big difference.

I don't believe al Qaeda could have produced the C4. I wonder if Iraq supplied it.
By the way, do we know yet what explosive was used on the French tanker in Yemen?

I fought in VN in 68-69, and have been back twice since, most recently in 1990. I have travelled extensively, both with and without my family through out Indonesia. Let me tell you, if I had to pick a place to fight, it would be VN, not Indonesia. The only advantage fighting in Indonesia would have is that Bahasa Indonesian is a very easy language to pick up, unlike the tonal Vietnamese. The terrain in much of Indonesia is worse than almost anything in Viet Nam, much of the country straddles the equator, so its bloody hot, and the Indonesians are a clever and ruthless adversary, just ask the Dutch. Also they have almost 235 million people. We would be there for decades, and would lose in the end.
