KUTA, Indonesia - A former member of the Indonesian Air Force has confessed to investigators that he assembled the bomb that destroyed the heart of Bali's nightclub district Saturday, killing at least 181 people, an Indonesian security official said Tuesday. The suspect, who is being held by Indonesian authorities, told investigators that he regretted the massive loss of life, but he has not disclosed who ordered him to make the bomb, according to the security official. The official said the suspect had learned to make explosives while serving in the air force, which later dismissed him for misconduct.

In the old Soviet system they used these tactics. Unfortunately it led to people implicating family, friends, co-workers, cats, dogs, the family cow and other such reliable suspects.

(BBC News) - Indonesian police say they have formally detained two men as suspects in connection with Saturday's bombing on the holiday island of Bali.
The men had been questioned for several hours after the identity card of one of them was found at the site of the attack.
Victims came from about two dozen countries Australia, Britain and Indonesia suffered the highest number of casualties Most of those injured were foreign tourists
Meanwhile, police have denied media reports that a third man - a former air force member - had confessed to building the device.
But a spokesman confirmed that the officer was being questioned - he had the expertise to make such a bomb and was living in Bali....SNIP...

Looks like they have found the fall guy for the bombing. Heaven forbid it actually might be a Muslim terrorist, especially in Indonesia.

Fox News top of the hour said that the C4 used in Bali has been identified as the same as that used in Cole bombing, and so basically described it as a foregone conclusion that Al Qaeda is responsible.

Okay yeah, whatever. You put together a bomb with enough explosives tot ake out a city block, and you regret the loss of life?? Animal. I'd gladly put a .40 into this guys skull while eating an ice cream cone.

Does PC Moose have a twin bro running the investigation in Bali? Sounds like it with this prediction of failure!

We need to send our terrorist suspsects to Indonesia for questioning.

The security sources also told the Washington Post that the Indonesian government had learned a week before the attack that Islamic extremists were planning to carry out a bombing. The report said security was heightened at more than 60 locations around the country, but that it was not thought the popular resort island of Bali would be targetted. Megawati knew!
(Isn't that something like the usual hue and cry we heard from Hillary about GW?)

Another possible culprit is Laskar Jihad, which suddenly cleared out of town right after the blast--though Geraldo--now in Bali(!), says that Jemaah Islamiah is being investigated for this.

KUTA, Indonesia (CNN) -- One of Indonesia's most militant Muslim groups, Laskar Jihad, famed for waging a holy war against Christians in the eastern Maluku islands, has disbanded and closed its headquarters.
The closure came shortly after the deadly Bali blast over the weekend. To date, no one has linked Laskar Jihad to the explosion...
Laskar Jihad's official website, which is often filled with anti-Western, anti-American, anti-Christian rhetoric has also been shut down. A notice on the webpage dated October 12, said the website was temporarily shut.
In Maluku's provincial capital of Ambon, 700 Laskar Jihad members left the island on a ship on Tuesday.

Note to self:
Another documented example of terrorists....using vans.

Yes, Mad_Tom, why don't we put them in a camp at Minot AFB, North Dakota, instead of the Carribean?

"...he regretted the massive loss of life""...he didn't realize this bomb would kill people??"
One has to wonder, how many dead are considered okay? At what point did he decide to have "regrets"? When he was caught?

Another day another stupid comment by dumidog.

"In Maluku's provincial capital of Ambon, 700 Laskar Jihad members left the island on a ship on Tuesday. "
This is wonderful news for the people of Ambon. Maybe now the bloodshed can abate. We spent quite a bit of time in the Malukus, and if anything, found Ambon, a majority of whose residents are Christian, so placid and comfortable as to be almost boring. A lovely people and an absolutely beautiful place, what a damn shame that they have been subjected to this vilence.

It does look beautiful there, you're lucky you got to see that part of the world before this current madness began.
I should have posted a little more from the article, there are still a lot of them left!
" "The jihad members said the remaining members will also follow suit. They are withdrawing in phases," a local journalist, who declined to be named, told CNN by telephone from Ambon.
"She said an estimated 2,300 members remain on the island."

Regrets??
this is an odd thing to say, he didn't realize this bomb would kill people?? No, he didn't realize he would be caught and start saying Hi to Mr. Cattle Prod...
