CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

I saw a picture of last black victim. I am not sure if the picture was right or poorly developed or what, but if it had his skin tone accurate, a stranger might not pick him out as black.

The question was purely rhetorical: I don't pretend to have the answer.

But the answers I've seen so far cross the entire spectrum.

This is a tough one. If Bush follows the pattern he's used to this point, his answer will likely contain a great deal of subtlety.

One thing I'm absolutely sure of: He doesn't want the internal pot to boil over. That is a distraction, more than a distraction. This is what we try to do to our enemies -- take the battle to their homes. We surely don't want the battle here on our soil, where we must fight defensively. That tends to hurt your offensive capability.

A very tough nut, if this is terrorism.

I posted this before in the thread somewhere (probably got lost) ... but, our family has been looking at the Table that brigette put together for FR.com. We said last night that the next victim (praying that there wasn't going to be one) would be white. If you follow the victims ethnicity since Victim #5 you will note the victims alternate between light and dark. And, I propose the Indian man and Hispanic woman might have been mistaken for black instead of Indian and Hispanic. If the sniper was far enough away he would not have been able to tell ethnicity. So, if there is another shooting (GOD forbid) it may be a person of color (black or supposed black).

Just heard on Fox "several people heard shot but saw nothing" As in most of these events lots of these reports prove false.

None that I'm aware of. In fact, a tumbling round is nearly worthless, as I understand it, since rotation on several axis would cause the bullet to go out of control and end up far outside its desired trajectory. Aiming would be worthless.

The reason rifled bores were employed to replace smooth bores was because a spiraling round maintains its balance and accuracy over a far longer distance. A round that tumbles on its way to the target is antithetical to that end.
