That area seems to be heavily trafficked. If the Sniper is shooting there, either he is getting bolder and more fool-hardy or he is incredibly sophisticated.

The area in Manassas where he shot is very highly trafficked. I agree with conjecture that he was p'ed off at the Baltimore Marine guy getting "his" (the sniper's) attention and decided to just show them who was really doing the shooting. Not to mention the fact that every dang report on local newsradio today was about how this was the longest the guy's gone without shooting since the whole thing's starting. The media reports have practically been BEGGING the guy to show his face (or rather, his gun) - and so he has obliged.

But this does feel, well, kind of hasty. The sniper's actions tonight, I mean. Since the Baltimore stuff broke kind of late, it seems the shooter scrambled to show his stuff tonight. I think he's on his way down the spiral and that he'll start getting sloppy due to rage at the police/media's behavior (I think that's already started, if the police have all these supposed leads), or else greedy enough to try for more than one shot at a time.

WMAL reporting either white or cream-colored Astrovan. Still closing and reopening area roads. Michael's parking lot is attached to the Home Depot parking lot.

The next thrill is all the media attention he will receive.

Will he allow himself to be taken alive? Could this be an attempt to attract a lot of cops, and take them all down with an explosion?

Compared to all the other shootings, this one is not what I would call close to an Interstate.

We were standing in the checkout line at another Home Depot near Fair Oaks when a man with a cell phone said there had been a shooting at the Home Depot in Seven Corners.

The first words out of my mouth were, "that's not near an interstate. If it's him, he's changing his MO."

So, if he's changing his MO, nobody is safe until they catch him.

Good Point and there are people who take public transportation because of the horrible DC area traffic. Nothing like being in a backup on the Capital beltway 11:30 pm at night. Its not the best area to shoot someone else and not be seen. But the same could be said of the Montgomery county shootings.

I would not want to be stuck in a roadblock when they catch up with these guys cause I think they would just blow themselves up and anyone nearby would be in harm's way.

Hubby says Homer D. Poe :-p

Home depot
When our founders, Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank opened the first Home Depot stores in Atlanta on June 22, 1979, the home improvement industry was changed forever.

Now looking for an olive-skinned man.

Where did you hear that? If someone was close enough to see skin tone at night, then they have been very close and able to give a full description.

This area is very populated not much greenery to hide behind,
may even be covered garage in that area for Home depot,
two or three home depots have covered garages, this is major intersection area of route/interstate 66, route 7 four lane highway, and route 60 also four lanes in that area, Major populations. lots and lots of traffic,
plus home depot has many white trucks always in that parking lot

"Wouldn't Home Depot be closed at this time (10 PM ET)? "

. . .not necessarily. . .where I live, they are open until midnight and think one location is open 24 hours. . .

This guy is losiing control. He seems to be responding to news. Everyone breathed a sigh today, no shooting, so what does he do but go out and shoot at night. He seems to crave attention. If this goes on much longer the area around DC will be deserted for shoppers, etc. This is economically damaging but I think a distraction for a bigger project. I do think this is terrorist activity by Al Quieda.

Wrong. At close range, the .223 is at its highest velocity, so the bullet deformation will be greatest. Also maximum energy at closest range.

Doesn't matter how you slice it, the .223 will be the deadlier weapon at any range.

Someone asked about one shot stops. The .223 has a one shot stop rate of 99% in police shootings. The highest 45ACP rating is 94% with one brand of ammo. Not that I put alot of faith in these ratings, because I don't.

Sometimes white looks cream colored in the dark with those wierd street lights that are kinda yellowish. I have a white subaru and it looks pretty dull at night.
