CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

So sorry to hear this. News is hard to come by but so far this doesn't sound inconsistent with the others.

There was a special somber-toned edition of 20/20 tonight earlier that I thought did way too much talking about how there had been a long time since the last shooting, how today had probably been peaceful because it was a holiday and about how mornings were more dangerous - highlighting time of day statistics. The shooter team seems to be reacting to this, noting the school shooting etc. So now we have a new, evening killing on a holiday. Thank you ABC News.

20/20 was also spinning the lone-nut theory hard, without any particular proof and even after they themselves said it was probably two people. I think the terrorist hypothesis remains to be disproven.

This is my home town (went to Jeb Stuart HS), but I left the area over 30 years ago. Is the Home Depot in the 7 Corners shopping center between 7 & 50 or is it on 50 (there used to be a Monkey Wards)?

Virginia is not all D.C. suburb. He'd have been perfectly fine in most areas of VA. I live near Virginia Tech...he'd have been fine there.

How close to an Interstate or main highway is that Home Depot?

The shooter has a few options to get out of there. If the sniper went north on Route 7 he would get to I-66, south on Route 7 gets you to I-395. West on Arlington Blvd, Rt 50, takes you to the beltway.

My guess is the sniper was in the strip mall parking lot north of Arlington Blvd and shot into the Home Depot parking lot on the south side of Arlington Blvd. He then could take Wilson Blvd to Sycamore Street north to I-66. It's the fastest way to get to an interstate from the Seven Corners area.

I work part time at Home Depot. Some stores in my area are open 24 hours a day.

Boy. Can't imagine ever getting motivated to install a toilet seal at 3 a.m.

as i posted on another related thread -- my neighbor called to tell me -- her son caught in traffic -- I66 shut down -- people guessing it would be fairfax county next -- they were right -- i'm sick of this place -- m.e.'s frieken all over the place and as arrogant as ever -- i want them OUT.

Police need to start monitoring all industrial parks -- white vans all over the place and perfect place to blend. Red toyota because large white van broken down? Clearly, this is not the work of one lone nut. And i thought i was going to get some sleep tonight. told my child that if this keeps up, she'll have to plan on living with other siblings no longer in this area ... it's a matter of survival.
