This kind of crap will only energize Republicans - we're not going to accept fraud this time around - or the people trying to convince us Jeb is losing when we know better.

Well, let's not get snippy about it. :-) Please try to remember I'm on your side.

I think Jeb is "in trouble" (though I think he'll win) for several reasons:

I'm sure most of us had hoped for a Reno win in the Dem primary. She led most of the way, and my guess is that the Jeb team was preparing to run against her. The faux moderate who actually won got a lot of favorable press for slaying the witch (to mix a metaphor).

McBride does have some appeal to North Florida "Crackers" who wouln't have voted for Reno, and he figures to hang onto the Southeast Florida elderly/Jewish/liberal voters, who will vote for any Democrat.

I can read the polls. It's uncomfortably tight, and has shown signs of tightening further.

I'd venture to guess that in "God's waiting room," sinking stock portfolios are more likely to cause anti-incumbent sentiment than elsewhere. What does Jeb have to do with stock prices? Nothing. But this is FloriDUH.

Jeb lost in 1994 after leading in the polls for most of the race. Dubya barely carried Florida after leading by fairly substantial margins in the polls until the last few weeks.

The Dems would do anything to bring off this upset.

So yeah, I'm plenty worried. I'd suggest that all Florida Republicans work on this campaign as if Bush were a few points down instead of a few points up. Glad to hear that Bush did well in the debates. And I think the new voting system is less tamper-prone. But this one isn't locked up, in my opinion.
