Thanks for the response. I couldn't remember if you were involved with JT and his daily rants about Reno and trashing her without the Gov. campaign approval. Well it may defy your reasoning, but I'm sure someone in the Gov. campaign has some sense of logic as to why they did it. I don't know but it was their call regardless of how stupid it may have been or how you feel about it. After all it's his name on the line and not yours.

The FL thing will be interesting to see if they can pull off an election without a voter fiasco like what has happened in the last two elections. Hopefully they will succeed.

I think the fact that you reside in Arizona and I reside in Florida makes my points re: the Florida elections slightly more valid.

Yes, you do sound like a faithful Republican voter!

Hey, like all Freepers, we state opinions on everything!

Thank God no one keeps a scorecard!

Let me ask you this re: Ward Connerly. Right after Jeb is elected, Connerly goes to Tallahassee and offers to do all the work to get the exact same Affirmative Action referendum that passed in Florida onto the Florida Ballot.

Now what would you do? Tell Connerly to hit the road? That's what Jeb did. IMHO, he could have had Connerly do all the heavy lifting without getting involved at all!

Instead, Jeb comes up with his own half baked idea that results in 20,000 blacks protesting the state house in Tallahassee. Also, his idea po'ed the conservatives.

IMHO, he turned down a surefire win/win and instead, embraced a lose/lose.

I'm not a politican or any kind of statragist but this was just another example that belongs in the Huh? category.

I pray you are right.

You're donw in Miami, right?

Are the Cubanos excited and going to vote for Jeb like they did for his brother? From what I hear, they are not.

What's your take?

The same people that always vote are going to vote this time.

They hate Democrats and love Bush.

There are 'Jeb' signs all over Little Havana.

It might not make any difference, but I hope you take the time to tell him how he lost your support and why. I hope he wins, for Florida's sake and for the sake of future Democratic shenanigans.

You do not have the foggiest idea about what you are talking about!

Well, let's not get snippy about it. :-) Please try to remember I'm on your side.

I think Jeb is "in trouble" (though I think he'll win) for several reasons:

So yeah, I'm plenty worried. I'd suggest that all Florida Republicans work on this campaign as if Bush were a few points down instead of a few points up. Glad to hear that Bush did well in the debates. And I think the new voting system is less tamper-prone. But this one isn't locked up, in my opinion.

what does AZ have to do with it? That political candidate signs in Florida is more indicative of support than in AZ?

I saw the debate between McBride and Bush... McBride is totally clueless about how state gov't even works...

It might be a whisper campaign. "Jeb's in trouble" "He's going to lose" "McBride's the winner" in the hopes that this wish might become a reality at the polls.

The only problem with this is that these idiots were saying this as early as 2001 when the rumor that Reno was getting into the race got going. In fact, they've been saying this since the end of the 2000 election. Remember the business of getting Jeb as payback for Florida? What's changed about it now?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Drudge's big news breaks came from sources inside newsrooms. He broke Monica because of a disgruntled Newsweek staffer who was furious that Isikoff's story was killed (or delayed). Can you give me an example of any story that Drudge broke that came out of this White House? I think Drudge is now being used as a stooge for trial balloons and hoaxes.

The AARP announced this Am that they did NOT endorse Jeb or the ad-he is trying to fool people(Jeb?)AARP stated that they NEVER endorse or not ANY candidate because of their non profit status. is jeb being his old devious self.

FWT, The Dems are sooo energized, they can hardly wait for the election. Mcbride doesn't need any $$$to win. Sheer turnout will do it.

Nope, can't give you any examples, since I don't know where he gets his material. But if he truly is being used, he'll soon be taken about as seriously as DEBKA, huh?

McBride is down to his fewest pennies. Jeb is sitting on five to six million, easy, ready to go. McBride decided to go negative?

That was his first mistake. That told Jeb that McBride isn't actually gaining on Bush. Jeb will unleash a huge barrage of television commercials over the next three weeks and overwhelm McBride.

McBride will want help from the DNC, but he won't get as much as McAuliffe promised him. The priority for the DNC is to hold the Senate. That's where the money is going.

When Jeb goes negative, he will use the formula Chiles used against him: have some sherriff or state pol criticize McLawyer for some reason, then close with a fifteen second "positive" message from Jeb.

Worked like a charm for Chiles.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Your base can be energized all it wants, but when our base is energized and we get the lions share of the Indies, then you lose.

Your guy won't run as well in So. Fla. as Gore did. Oh, he'll win So. Fla.. Don't get me wrong. I live here. I know. However, Jeb! is ahead in the I-4 corridor and in No. Fla.. Decisively ahead in W. Fla. Jeb is a known and respected quantity. GW Bush didn't have the respect that his brother has now. That's why the state election was so damned close.

Politics is done by regions. McBride knows he can only pump Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach without having to pull out the vote fraud machine. That he doesn't want to do, because he knows that the Department of Justice will be monitoring this election.

Bottom line? People who say the money doesn't matter don't know their facts from the gerbil up Richard Gere's a$$. Money is EVERYTHING in the closing weeks of the campaign. It allows Jeb! commercials to appear where yours are supposed to be, and allows Jeb! to get his ground troops mobilized as McLawyer is running out of cash.

When day after day of negative and positive ads are run on your behalf, they begin to dominate the airwaves. Jeb! was a smart little squirrel. He let McLawyer spend his money, like the inexperienced candidate that he is, in the flush of McBride's victory over Reno.

Now Jeb is sitting on between five and seven mil. McBride is wondering where his money from the DNC is.

Going to the tight Senate races all over the country, that's where.

And when Big Brother comes in to campaign with him?

Game over.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

:)- I don't know if you meant to post to me, but with what you wrote, I'm glad you did.

I've always noticed that you have good judgement on these things- you and Common Tator. I love to read your stuff.

I sure hope that you're right about Jeb's strategery- I can't believe a complete nobody who came out of nowhere can beat Jeb. From what I understand, McBride has the personality of a dial tone and in this day and age a person has to be charismatic and able to emotionally connect in order to win. Jeb has that all over McBride.

I wouldn't go that far. I think he can still break stories killed in news departments, and also popular culture type stuff as the recent barbara streis... bs. I simply find it hard to believe that this WH has someone that would leak something to Drudge. What would they gain? If they got caught, they could be out.
