Sorry to have to tell you this but my feeling on the ground here in Florida is that Jeb is in trouble. I've been saying for a long time that he never did tie up his base. On the contrary, he has po'ed his base. I'm one those base conservatives and I worked very hard and very long for his brother in 2000 but I am not doing it for Jeb.

Sorry to say that many conservatives I know are also "just going through the motions" for Jeb.

Of course, I want Jeb to win but..........

That's the problem.

In what area? Granted, I don't pay very close attention to Florida state politics, but Jeb's one of the few in the GOP who's made real progress on affirmative action and vouchers.

Why should Jeb be considered as "buddying-up" to seniors when he made a speech to them at their invitation? Let me add as an aside, the first thing welcoming committees of AARP and other organizations do to their guest speakers is slap a big button on their shirts touting their group's name.

I was in many election campaigns in my career as an elected official (every one successful!) and the first thing I did each primary and general election was schedule a speech with every senior organization I could find. I never compromised my principles and I'm sure Jeb didn't either.

These oldie-goldies vote like you wouldn't believe, darlin', especially here in Retirement World, USA.

Democrats include the media. Why the effort at distinction?

Nobody inside the WH or with any real knowledge is going to leak this if true.

I meant it as a description of a liberal trick...if the Democrats SAY "Jeb might lose", "he's in trouble" (quoting a Zogby poll, which everyone knows can be skewed to reflect whatever the pollsters want), they may hope to plant that "Jeb=lose" in the voters' minds. I never implied this was a White House leak at all or that Drudge was anyone's mouthpiece. It might be a whisper campaign. "Jeb's in trouble" "He's going to lose" "McBride's the winner" in the hopes that this wish might become a reality at the polls.

I was including the erstwhile "independent" Drudge in that quote from the Drudge Report.

Don't bother asking. Just another holier than though "conservative", who enjoys being out of power. While the race may be close, Jeb enjoys very solid support from his base.

..."he's in trouble" is exactly what I heard Chris Matthews say tonight on his show (WHY I had it on - I'll never know) - but anyway - he and Howard Fineman were discussing the race. Both Fineman and Matthews agreed that Jeb was "in trouble".

Well, Seeking, this may be one of those times when you pick the lesser of the two evils...McBride or Jeb, Jeb or McBride...and then, rather than putting forth any further effort "for Jeb" or "for McBride", take ownership and put forth effort "for yourself". If you still believe that having Jeb in office is more desirable than McBride in office, then you really are doing whatever you choose to do to help him retain his office for your own benefit, to help produce the best possible outcome from your two options.

Going through the motions takes the heart right out of you. If you and your fellow "base" still believe Jeb has more potential for the good of the state than his opponent, this fact alone may be the fire you need to keep fighting when the fight to support him personally has waned in your hearts.

For the life of me I can't see why. McBumble was terrible in the last debate. He has nothing to run on but "our kids". Jeb has got a solid record here on every aspect of governing. I don't get it. I thought for sure that after the debate, Jeb would pull away.

JEB? In Trouble? In Florida? Allow me to paraphrase Queen Victoria when I say the possibility doesn't exist.

He has outgunned McBRIBE in campaign cash, outclassed him in political ability and credibility (McBRIBES wife, the past president of Bank Of America in Florida, wouldn't even release her tax records until after her husband "beta" Janet RENO), and outdebated McBRIBE in the first and only debate.

McBRIBE is a series circuit candidate (education) in a parallel circuit state. The senior citizens here are not very interested in the education problems in Florida and wonder why the Dem candidate continues to hammer a campaign issue that they don't care about and certainly do not want to fund.

This report from DRUDGE is either a plant for disinformation reasons or DRUDGE is already suffering from Alzheimers (actually a problem that Florida seniors do know something about, and that McBRIBE has yet to bring up).

So, to all you lily-livered half baked conservatives from across the fruited plane, go find yourselves another ox to GORE, cause JEB has got the hammer down and he's coming home (to TALAHASSEE of course, where he is now and plans to stay).

This is how it's done. AP-Gannett runs pro-McBride and "McBride criticizes Bush" "opinion" pieces as news, and ignores Jeb's real accomplishments and endorsements. It's propaganda. It's wired to every "hometown" paper and local TV news network. AP-Gannett knows what they're doing....nationwide. How many Democrats could win a fair election in America?

Oh, and Jeb's going to beat the far left McAuliffe pal, DNC loyalist Bill McBride, in spite of Drudge, Gannett, AP and the whole VLWC.

"he's in trouble"...I'm telling ya, it's Mr. Subliminal!

Ted walks into a bar with Mr. Subliminal

Mr. Subliminal: Two beers, please.

Ted: I just can't get the hang of it..

Mr. Subliminal: That's because it's new to you. Believe me, Ted, subliminal advertising can be very, very effective.

Bartender: Alright, gentlemen, here's your beers.

Mr. Subliminal: Thanks, partner -on the house - that was quick - on the house - what do we owe you?

Bartender: Uh.. forget about it - on the house!

Mr. Subliminal: Oh? Thank you very much! Hey.. you know something - free cash - this is a real classy place - free cash - first time we've been here.

Bartender: Oh, I'm glad you like it. I've been working here for years.

Mr. Subliminal: Oh, no kidding- free cash - that's great!

Bartender: [ opens cash register and drops cash on the counter ] Here ya go.

Mr. Subliminal: What's this for?

Bartender: It's free cash, take it.

Ted: [ chuckles ] This is a real nice place!

Mr. Subliminal: No, really - free cash - we can't take this - your wallet - I mean, what would we do with it?

Bartender: Well, don't be ridiculous! [ drops his wallet on the counter ] Here, you take my wallet, you can put it in there!

Mr. Subliminal: Well, okay, if you insist! [ takes wallet, turns to Ted ] You see?

Yes, I think we do see...Jeb's in trouble, the new Democrat chant...

How does McMonotone, the rotund catatonic corporate lawyer, get over 50% of the vote?

The white women who vote based on a canidates looks certainly aren't supporting him, and rat fraud is going to be extremely hard to pull off this time around.

In the last 2 Governors races Jeb won handily in 1998 with 55% of the vote.

Florida

Governor
Vote % Votes Winner CNN Call: Bush wins Florida
Buddy MacKay (D) 45 1765921
Jeb Bush (R) 55 2174741 *
Winner Profile: Jeb Bush
Exit poll
Total Precincts: 5768
Precincts Reporting: 5768   (100%)

.

In 1994, Jeb was narrowly defeated by rat voter fraud in Broward and Palm Beach counties 2,135,008-2,071,068 (50.8%-49.2%)

Jeb has consistently gotten over 2,000,000 votes in the last 2 statewide elections.

How does McScumLawyer come up with an extra 350,000 votes that aren't offset by a pickup by the GOP of at least a quarter of the undecideds? (which still gives Jeb the victory.
