I think you get a Papal Dispensation if you are on the Jihad.

"Except I forgot the "l" in Al quaeda. Doh. Further indication that the sniper is not a pro...#8-)

- 60/40 it's a domestic ex-military or LEO. Unfazed by proximity of police during and after attacks.
- Could be any ethnicity. Likely male.
- Extorting private or government entity.
- Family person based on inactivity during weekend.
- Currently holds a delivery or repair job and commits his attacks while on the job using company vehicle.
- Vehicle is anything -but- a white truck. White truck has become an urban legend and has contaminated witness observations.
- On a true vendeta against someone. Insane but disciplined by nature or training (military or government). May -not- be seeking monetary gain.
- Cartridge based on prior military/police experience with .223.
- Tarot card and cartridge used to taunt authorites.
- May not have made his demands yet. Establishing credibility with authorities.
- Will become enraged and make a mistake eventually. Future attacks may be against higher profile targets.
Gloomy assesment on my part but seems to explain much of why this is such a unique case.

The shooter didn't cull blacks either; and couldn't know they were not 'black muslims'.

Daytime is best, especially work days, people are busy and about their routines. less chance of someone seeing a muzzle flash. Also if the perps are using some sort of work vehicle then week days are best. On weekends people are more liesurely about and there is a greater likelihood of a random spotting. I'm betting terrorist, and they have done their homework.....I would not be surprised if they laid low or switched vehicles for a while if this truck was in fact a good representation of their vehicle.
To: JennysCool
Everyone is in proximity to vehicles! Maybe its enviros', they are worried about air quality and eveyone shot breathed.
To: DesertWalker
Not to restate the obvious, but a well-trained group of professional assassins, paid by a foreign government or private organization, can keep any schedule they want. That SHOULD be obvious.
For Pete's sake, we've got this color-coded alert sytem and everybody is supposed to be on the lookout for anything suspicious--and now we have this strange string of deadly shootings, and everybody and the media goes . . . duh.
To: plain talk
And I just love the way he looks up to the sky, open his eyes and mouth and gets that look on his face like his bowels are about to expload.... LOL. there's hope left for you.
To: DesertWalker
you're talking right there I wouldn't be surprised if a new weapon surfaced too.

that would be true only if there were large buildings everywhere thet the person struck but with a 5.56 they are making their shots within 300-500 yards and the report from the rifle would have been reported

FYI
4-19. TARGET INDEXING
To index targets, the sniper team uses the prepared range card for a reference since it can greatly reduce the engagement time. When indexing a target to the sniper, the observer locates a prominent terrain feature near the target. He indicates this feature and any other information to the sniper to assist in finding the target. Information between team members varies with the situation. The observer may sound like an FO giving a call for fire to an FDC depending on the condition of the battlefield and the total number of possible targets from which to choose.
a. Purpose. The sniper team indexes targets for the following reasons:
(1) Sniper teams may occupy an FFP in advance of an attack to locate, index, and record target locations; and to decide on the priority of targets.
(2) Indiscriminate firing may alert more valuable and closer enemy targets.
(3) Engagement of a distant target may result in disclosure of the FFP to a closer enemy.
(4) A system is needed to remember location if several targets are sighted at the same time.
4-20. TARGET SELECTION
b. Probability of First-Round Hit. The sniper team must determine the chances of hitting the target with the first shot by considering the following:
- Distance to the target.
- Direction and velocity of the wind.
- Visibility of the target area.
- Amount of the target that is exposed.
- Amount of time the target is exposed. h
- Speed and direction of target movement.
f. Effect on the Overall Mission. The sniper team must consider how the engagement will affect the overall mission. The mission may be one of intelligence gathering for a certain period. Firing will not only alert the enemy to a team's presence, but it may also terminate the mission if the team has to move from its position as a result of the engagement.

Nobody's even seen this person to know if he's got two heads, let alone be in a position to engage him.
Now, if someone (armed) happened to stumble upon him while he was setting up his shot...
...of course, I think there are two or more of them - shooter, wheelman/security, maybe someone(s) else in a blocking vehicle.
But beyond two people, it gets cumbersome. I'm sure they're operating light out of planning (K.I.S.S.) or necessity.

I admit to knowing absolutely nothing about firing weapons, so you could be right! As I recall from hearing Grossman speak and reading his articles, though, he was very explicit about linking the games to shooting ability and desensitization. As for moral judgment/behavior - it is true that (thankfully) most kids who play these games are not going to go out and emulate them. However, for those who are vulnerable, these games are not a good thing.

Just exploring a possibility; I wonder if it could have something to do with the discussion of going to war with Iraq, throughout the week. Maybe, some sort of political statement.
You mean like a terrorist?
To: RandallFlagg
A) Killings/shootings are happening on weekdays when Americans are doing what terrorists hate the most: enjoying our freedoms. Yeah. Like going to work! Weekends would be better for that! If it were terrorists, I would think that they would do a lot of damage on Sundays since that is when most Christians worship. Like when they went after the Christians in Pakistan.
Nope, I doubt we are dealing with Islamikazi's.
I would not be surprised if we DO see a priest, minister or reverend targeted though. But, I base that on the tarot and it's death to all meaning. father/mother child/priest/king

I agree it looks doctored but I think
IT'S A POLICE COMPOSITE PHOTO
