We know the Law Enforcement community uses profiling to get some clue as to the identities and motives of serial killers.

I propose we make up our own profile, based on what we know , and I invite all Freepers , who think they have a useful idea to contribute, to add their thoughts to this post.

I'd like to kick things off with a discussion of the TIMELINE involved in these shootings. What does it suggest to you ?

My second hypothesis, as well, is middle eastern terrorists. This possiblity is not at the top of my list because I think they would be anxious to take credit for it.

It cannot be ruled out if it was planned only for the first
few hits, but then the perp did better than planned
and did not autodestruct.

Also, the first few hits had a crescent moon out
on Oct 9, 2002 First Cresent (New Moon).

I was inclined to mention that; however, I'm not familiar enough with the rap genre to cite specific examples...

I just had a disquieting thought. I noticed the grocery store was packed today. Probably people don't think the weekend is as dangerous as the weekday. I suppose that could eventually lead to really crowded stores on the weekends. More victims in a bomb-type situation. Ugh. I didn't say that.

A 3 or 4 year old sometimes will use phrases like that. Anyone older would use this type of phrase as a tongue in cheek poke...in this case it is meant to be downright creepy.

Is it just me, or doesn't it seem unlikely (yet possible) that a crack shot could be a 16 year old?

It's true. They even pray inside their foxholes . . . However, I do think the preferred mode when possible is in a mosque, a house, an apartment, or some other suitable place. At least I've read that this is one of the main reasons there are mosques in almost every little neighborhood in the muslim world; i.e., so the faithful will find it convenient to walk to the mosque for their daily prayers.

Whoever it is has opened Pandora's box and has unleashed all manner of evils against us.

This person could could stop right now and not kill another person and possibly will never be found. The other possibility is that come Monday snipers have relocated and begin again in a different city or state. Or multiple states.

I was at the site of the killing of Pascal Charlot, the black Haitian, on Georgia Ave. in D.C. today. (I happened to be running an errand a couple of blocks north of the site.) Guess what? Three or four blocks north of where Charlot was when the bullet hit him is a Ramada Inn, also on Georgia Ave. (There was a Ramada Inn right across the street from yesterday's shooting. Law enforcement, according to today's Washington Post, was interested by the proximity of motels in several recent shootings of the sniper.) I didn't see balconies, but, because Georgia Ave. goes downhill as you go southwards towards where Charlot was, you would have a clear line of sight to him from the roof and from the upper stories of the Ramada Inn. And because the Ramada Inn is in Montgomery County, MD, whereas Charlot was just barely inside D.C., investigating the crime if the shooting was from the Ramada Inn would present jurisdictional difficulties.

So, yes, the firing on Charlot could well have been from Maryland. As for why to avoid D.C., the D.C. cops may be nothing to fear, but the feds may be. And perps around here have long favored committing crimes on jurisdictional boundaries (between D.C. and Montgomery Co., between Montgomery Co. and PG Co., and between PG Co. and D.C. -- makes police pursuit much more difficult.)

Picture this. The terrorist in prayer located in the smaller white van
which is concealed located inside the larger second white box van.

This would hide all the perps, and account for the typical Al Aqaeda four per cell.

I don't think that's at issue...the only wrinkle in that fabric is a 16 y.o.'s access to a delivery truck, and the accountability issue at some of the hours.

Because I like his show so much. He is so sensitive and caring, you know. And I just love the way he looks up to the sky, open his eyes and mouth and gets that look on his face like his bowels are about to expload.... Actually I was channel-surfing and watched a few minutes of his show. Well, excuse----- me.

Senator we have brilliant kids, the only difference the last decade or two have brought about a few brilliant deviants.

Were it an Al-Qaeda cell, wouldn't it be more plausible for them to use weapons that would cut down 10,20,50,100,or 500 at a time in a crowded shopping mall on a Saturday at noon?
That would be far more effective as a fear inducing method.
Where's the fear from this series of attacks in the east? I don't detect any here in Kansas City and I'll bet there isn't much in San Francisco or LA or SLC either. It isn't Al-Qaeda. It's probably some crazy white guy/s, the stats tend to lean heavily in that direction when we're talking about serial killers, very heavily.
