Adios for Morales

George Rodriguez, a former El Paso County attorney and longtime friend of Dan Morales, was not surprised earlier this week when Morales, a Democrat, endorsed the Republican Perry. "That's Dan Morales at his best. That's him. He's an unorthodox person," says Rodriguez, who was Morales' go-to guy in El Paso 12 years ago when Morales ran for attorney general. He served two terms before retiring.
Earlier this year Morales decided to challenge Perry. But Sanchez defeated Morales in the Democratic primary. It was a bruising match. Most politicians probably would've stayed neutral if they couldn't stomach their party's nominee.
"Any other politician would have, but Dan Morales is no other politician," Rodriguez says.
Don't look for Morales to ever again run as a Democrat. "I think he knows that," Rodriguez says.

Interesting what happens when a Democrat tries to be an honest man.

"Any other politician would have, but Dan Morales is no other politician," Rodriguez says. I became quite impressed with Morales in his run against Sanchez and I was wishing he was a Republican. Some wishes come true.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Texas ping list!. . .don't be shy.
No, you don't HAVE to be a Texan to get on this list!

I don't think Morales is an honest man. He diverted millions of dollars of tobacco settlement money to his supporters.

He wasn't honest about that --but he seemed honest debating Sanchez and wasn't willing to cause ethnic divisions just to get votes. That was the part that impressed me about him.

Yeah, but he also beat the shi*t out of ... Gerber? for fixing prices on infant formula.
Not a bad showing for a D.

Plus he came out and supported Perry. Kind of amazing for a democrat ---and he knows full well his party will oust him.

And didn't he bust the Texas school-lunch milk cartel, as well?
(Y'all excuse us Texans. We probably gush too much over a politician with cajones, only because they're so rare around here.)
You know, Ann Richards was about 90% dem-in-name-only, too.

Oh I thought it was a typo. Adios for Morals would have been a good title for Caption Kirk.

Instead of "Adios Morales" we should say.
"Bienvenidos a Partido Republico de Texas"

At least you are accurate in your handle. :)
Anyone that claims Ann Richards and John Sharp are conservative Democrats must be smoking their breakfast.
