This Guy Must Be Ex-Military

Posted on 10/11/2002 1:54:26 PM PDT by GulliverSwift

This guy must be ex-military. Look at his skill in slipping away, only trained snipers can do that.

The most recent shooting in Virginia happened when he shot the guy with a police officer 50 yards away. Dang, how do you slip away from that?

That's one of the things they know how to do, not only shoot the guy, but slip away with skill.

Either that or these Washington-area police are complete bafoons, which I'm willing to accept. All looking for a white van, even though there are so many white vans out there you could count 30 easily if you stand by the road.

I think I would be a little worried about having multiple snipers trying to track this guy down. How would the public know the "good" sniper from the "bad" sniper? How would the LEO responding to a panic call from a citizen know that the sniper in the woods was not suppossed to be shot, if the LEO could even find him.

I don't know about "computer selection" of location.

What I think is more likely is that he is spotting places based upon his withdrawal plan.

No doubt, a lot could be learned by analysis of his time/movement vectors and frequency.

Sounds like they might have a visual image on this guy from vidcam, The Washington Post article said something about showing a picture to a man who was questioned.

I figure he has one, maybe two hits left now.

This has got to be a wierd one. A "couple" doing the Texas Tower deal. Very, very strange.

If the sniper has a 'comfort zone', connecting the points on the map from Aspen Hill, Bowie, Fredicksburg to Manassas creates a rectangle with Woodbridge/Dale City nearly in the center, which is also between Fort Belvior and Quantico.

I am so sick of hearing this has to be an expert nonsense. Any Former Marine, who ever graduated from Boot Camp, can do a head shot with iron sights from 200 yards, this expert nonsense makes me sick. All you have to do is sight in the rifle one weekend and you are on your way.

“That's one of the things they know how to do, not only shoot the guy, but slip away with skill.”

It doesn’t take much skill to slip away in one of this country’s most common vehicles. It doesn’t take much skill to hit a target at 150 yards – the killers longest shot so far.

I will take exception to Marine, I think it is a bolt action anyway. One shot and then scoot, the temptation to do a second round with a semi-auto would overpower a nut case.

Ok, Army Too, but I thought you guys didn't do distance training in boot camp, just pop-ups.

I agree with that, I would tend to think a nut case would have taken the opportunity to kill mother and child at the school, instead of just the child. BTW, I know it was his aunt that dropped him off, but the shooter wouldn't know it at the time.

Only among the proles, if you shot Expert they had a shoot off on the 600 meter range, for a steak supper from the "O" Club, top three. It was good.

If the good sniper is good then the public wouldn't know he was there... but you are probably right one look from any of the sheep and that idea is "shot"

"I am so sick of hearing this has to be an expert nonsense."

It's amazing how little the general public know about guns and shooting.
We have a Constitutional duty to "keep and bear arms", yet more and more people view guns of all sorts as evil.
Up until a few years ago, I preferred open sights to a scope, and a head shot at two hundred yards would have been no problem.

It's not that hard to slip away here in America.

"If it doesn't affect me, who cares?"

Your statement about me is false. I am quite aware of the "cultural diversity" of those Virginia crime scenes and surrounding areas down there.

The point of my post was to take a jab at those wannabe journalists and conspiracy theorists who earlier made knee-jerk, unfounded claims about the shooter suspects being "Hispanic" or "Al Qaeda" types, etc.

One more thing, law enforcement authorities are darn well aware of the killer(s) probable racial/ethnic profile(s). They just continue to refuse to publicly say what they are. But, obviously those posters here on FR with underlying political agendas have chosen to exploit some of the general public's xenophobic fears over "terrorism" along with all the media hype over these shootings.

However, the timing of this shooter(s) killing spree is rather suspicious. Another conspiracy theory? Hmmmm..... ;-)

seven different name brand gas stations

Make that four different gas stations. The victim location sequence, as I recall:

Michael's store window (a miss)
supermarket parking lot
man mowing lawn for car dealership
gas station
gas station
bench in front of post office/strip mall
intersection in front of strip mall (DC)
Michael's parking lot
school entrance
gas station
gas station

You don't know much about snipers, do you?

BTW, the shots being made are so easy that anyone can make them with iron sights.

I could have sworn that I heard them rattle off more than four stations, but after I made that statement I did hear that there were less than seven. I appreciate you correcting my comment.

I didn't understand the full context of your remarks because I didn't realize they were part of a larger discussion you were having with others on the thread. I then failed to understand that you were taking a jab at these clowns.

I usually ignore the silly remarks from those you describe as "wannabe journalists and conspiracy theorists" because they don't seem to be able to think through what they are saying.

How can someone get away TEN TIMES? ten times is a lot.

I heard that withing MINUTES police descended on the scene in Fredericksburg, shutting off all surrounding roads immediately. But it did no good, and that's amazing. I've heard speculation that maybe he (or she </ sarcasm>) has a fallback point somewhere in in the area, somewhere secluded and planned out in advance, where he can wait and not have to worry about getting onto the roads with all of them blocked. Maybe he even has a fallback point in MD as well.

That's some pretty smart stuff to be able to do. And if military snipers don't know how to do that . . . . well, they do.
