NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

You learn to live with most anything. I'm in D.C. now, I learned to live with it when I was in the Air Force in Berlin 1970-2, and the Baader-Meinhof gang was laying bombs for U.S. servicement. That's really nothing, compared to, say, what Berliners had learned to put up with by 1945, or Leningraders by 1942.

Terror is no use. But healthy fear does have a use -- one avoids unnecessary risks.

Thanks aristeides, earlier today I also heard the police spokesman say that the victim was shot in the side. Since then I heard reporter at the scene say the victim was shot in the leg and another on the scene reporter said he was shot in the head.

The anti-gun nuts are going to claim that mandatory ballistics records could have prevented these shootings. How easy is it to change the barrel on weapons like this thereby rendering ballistics records moot?

What happened today was very significant and tells us much more about the perps and their
abilities. For some reason, a letter some radio talk show host read on his show a few days ago keeps coming to mind tonight: he (Michael Savage?) was talking about some Neo Nazi organization that sent a letter to Saddam telling him they supported him and would do something spectacular to show their support.

I didn't pay much attention at the time, but with everything that happened today (the extreme level of organization, skill and apparent guerilla warfare training) it came back to me.

Anybody else remember the show? Can anybody remind me the content of the letter? I'm pretty sure it contained direct threats to Americans at home...

Cops probably thinking the same thing. Which means the sniper can catch them off guard by shooting tonight or tomorrow (or even on Sunday, like at the Redskins game).

I'd read that some of our guys left a playing card when they had a good hit. My read then on the tarot card would be to encourage speculation it's NOT AQ. And it worked. I go back and forth but considering AQ trained to take down golfers on golf courses, this isn't out of the realm of imagination.

I don't feel that it could be the video game age group that many people are leaning to. It appears that the players of violent video games do so for the quick gratification of one kill and then going to another in a fast action pace.

I just cannot picture one in that age group (14-25) that plays these video games having the ability to have only one kill (shot) per event and pass up multiple targets. To be able to enter a one to 2 day cooling off period before continuing the "game".

Look to the examples of previous mass shootings where as the perps were said to be acting out or practiced with video games.

I will eat my computer if it's anyone in the 14-25 age group who get their jollies playing video games and have decided to expand a bit. I think it's either AQ or domestic paramilitary guys. I don't think these shootings can be pulled of alone without help and it's hard to imagine a domestic lone nut being able to elude police.

I think there are underground military training camps throughout the US and one of its members is doing this.

Late 50's and 60's. Air raid drills, bomb shelters, real fears of a world-ending nuclear war, the missle race, horror movies, tonsilectomies for every kid, chickenpox, mumps, measles, even saw families in houses quarenteed for weeks, crazes for sanitation: e.g. food untouched by human hands, horrific auto deaths on deadman's curve, then the race riots, the Vietnam War.

That's in addition to the neighborhood specific fears where I lived -- snakes, drunk hunters, rumbles and tussles with other kid gangs and brush fires.

Some bogeyman is always there for kids.

What's happening: How many is probably the big thing. The weapon is not spectacular, there is no visible motive except to kill ordinary Americans (at least at this time.) Of course, the President and/or staff are always considered.

1. They have a relay going..switching shooters, vehicles.

2. The driver is a ways off, acting as a spotter for the sniper. He has a police radio and knows whats going on

3. The driver and sniper are using hand-held radios between them. The driver feeds "routing" info to the sniper and the sniper walks away (for 10 minutes - one mile or until he feels clear. He then calls the driver to pick him up.) The driver watches and leaves when he knows he can get through.

How to beat them: The cops should somehow upset the perps use of the police radio and get a few more of them "puppies" around.

Take panoramic photographs immediately of all the surrounding areas. What we "see" and what is really around is two different things.

Little things: 1. Wherever the cop was this AM, the sniper couldn't see him.

2. Three out of 8 of the hits occured a few minutes after 8:00 (either AM or PM)-First light and last light.

A lot to this..They have to eat, sleep, bathe, shave, fill up their car...They have remained focused and no one is snitching that it sounds like someone I know..etc.

What happens next?? Simultaneous shootings to let us know there are more than one of them???
