NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg
The Free Lance-Star ^ | now | Jim Lakely

Posted on 10/11/2002 6:54:58 AM PDT by seamus

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

I heard a former FBI guy say the other day that profiling has NEVER solved a case....good police work does.....I don't know if that is true, but I thought it was interesting considering that the FBI has profilers.

I WISH my tactical rifle setup cost just $2000. I'd have more money for ammo now. For an out of the box shooter though, I think you are right. I'd put the amount around $1200.

“It was loud as (expletive),” said 39-year-old construction worker Tom Bowling, who was checking into the motel at the time. “It sounded like a bomb going off.”

Let me speculate here: could this be an indication of shooting from a room/the parking lot of the motel?

Whoever is doing this is loving "playing" with the authorities (witness shooting today next to cop). So he (or they, or she, or it, or whatever) might want to "play" with the profile -- which means profiling is moot. ;-) They need a break (investigatory-wise). EVENTUALLY ALL CRIMINALS SCREW UP. Mostly. :p He'll leave behind a clue at some point, or they'll get a clear witness, or -- they might even have it *now*, we don't and shouldn't know. *shrug*. Gotta stay cool and wait it out.

They just said on Channel 9 TV that the police brought the bloodhound through the press conference area

At least some of the dogs are probably looking for the perp, thinking he may come back later to gloat. They would have gotten the scent from the tarot card or the matted grass.

Others are, I'm sure looking for a spent shell.

how many more shootings until a Muslim gets hit?

If it does turn out to be a local nut, then maybe he is deliberately NOT hitting Muslim types, to make people profile him as a Muslim.

Good point. With the right acoustics it could sound a lot louder than an ordinary rifle shot.

After Monday's shooting in Bowie, traffic on Rt. 301 south was being stopped at Charles County line, I bet Rt. 301 north out of VA. was being stopped at Charles County line...

Thanks....."Tralphast"..????.....that reminds me of some of my Mississippi piney woods relatives names...

Oh well.....we don't choose our names (unless we live in lala land) anymore than we choose our parents.

The soon to be young sire's name will be Thomas Barksdale. Both are family names and yes the latter is the Gettysburg Barksdale (my wife's greatX3 uncle).

I'm sure the PC flag banners will love that homage.....anything to get their sanctimonious goats..gleeful lol

WorldNetDaily.com WASHINGTON – Authorities here are now investigating the possibility that the Beltway sniper shootings are the work of multiple shooters using multiple .223-caliber rifles and traveling in multiple white vehicles, WorldNetDaily has learned.

oh-oh, exactly what I was thinking... see post 1252....

Thanks for the info.

How far is the river from most of these incidents and what about cable or telephone ducts in the ground, are they big enough to move around in.

Yup...or a limo driver...someone that knows the areas very well, can pull into strip malls, plazas and vacant lots and cool his heels, and would know from his work, which isolated parks he could use from taking his naps.Clearly he keeps his own hours.

And I doubt he scurries off in a hurry after doing the kill.He can blend into normal traffic and higher congested locales.I'd be curious if there are any strip malls, with fast food chains, nearby to any of the shootings. These would be natural places to seek shelter.
