Bush and Blair were nominated [...] Toennesson said such a selection would be ``impossible.''

One would have thought giving the prize to Arafat was impossible...

``The Nobel Peace Prize committee would lose all credibility in Europe,'' he said.

Gosh, what is Europe??! Some kind of a new Third Reich where honoring terrorists with prizes is OK but try to honor a brave man leading a just campaign of self-defense and you lose all your "credibility" ? I used the expression "Fourth Reich" to describe the EU before--I guess I was right...

I used to have some respect for Carter because I, too, thought he was a man of integrity. Either I've changed over the years, or I'm learning more about what Carter is really about, but I simply can't respect him as I once did.

I used to agree with you that he's a good man. I don't believe that any more. He is just as evil as clintbilly.

Ditto. His enabling of or running inteference for violent, repressive, terroristic despots, kleptocrats and thugs since his presidency (not to mention his very effective support for the left-wing insurgency in Nicaragua during his presidency) has convinced me of this.

Predictable, but bad news nonetheless.

Carter in oblivion is good. Unfortunately, the award energizes him. Accordingly, we'll hear from him when he gets the award, and when he does his next self-nominated, free-lance foreign policy mission. That's 2 times too many.

This guy is incredibly lacking in stature. A few years after he left the White House, I walked into a popular pizza joint across from Emory University and there he was, polishing off a thin-crust pizza. The President of the United States. Service was bad that day. Shouldha' told him to bus my table.

He pardoned the draft dodger bill clinton, who was a felon until that moment... and therefore enabled eight years of felonius assaults on our freedom by a known derilect and criminal. Felons are not allowed to run for president.

He set up the mullahs of Iran by betraying our friend in the region, the shah... and the radical mullahs have been suicide bombing democratic infrastructures ever since... THEY were the precursor elements to the radicalization of islam, afghanistan and al qaida types... the world over.

Peace prize?
He is responsible in large measure for the lack of peace the world over.. and seeing that another islamikazi, his best bud, arafat, won the prize too... it should come as no surprise.

Jimmy Carter, the enabler of the terrorist left and bill clinton cult... from the party of terrorists...

I guess you can tell, I don't think much of the WPOS....

Ya gotta be kiddin'? Barf! Ever since araRAT rec'd the Nobel prize for peace, I personally lost respect for the prize and the organization. Now, the man who believes in paying off the opposition with taxpayers money just to get an agreement on paper that's not worth the ink it's written on wins this prize (see Panama Canal and North Korea agreements). What a joke!

"for his decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development"

Did they mention the 444 days that our folks were held hostage that were released after Reagan took office?

Jimmy Carter Wins Nobel Peace Prize

Andrew: I won the Pulitzer Prize.
Amos: You won that?
Andrew: Yes.
Amos: How much you win?

...From the film Amos & Andrew.

That was the first thing that came to my mind. :-)

Peace through weakness has a long long long history of great successes.

The Nobel Committee should simply award the Peace Prize to the French and retire it.

You mean the Nobel Appease Prize.
If Hitler had waited a year or two before attacking Poland, would Neville Chamberlain have won the Nobel Peace Prize?

Perhaps he would have even shared it with Hitler.

Hoo Hoo. What a belly laugh. Shouldn't this be posted under VANTITY/HUMOR.
Almost as good a laugh as when Arafat won.
This is such a respected organization!. (insert sarcasm off tag here)
