I read somewhere that Al Sharpton was nominated for the peace prize this year? I have to say that I was relieved when I saw Carter's name this morning - that meant that Sharpton did not win.

As conservatives, we are generally good, decent, humane and tolerant people. We know that people make mistakes, b/c we know ourselves. Accordingly tend to be way to charitable to those on the left. We think that they are misguided, not evil. The notion of Carter as good man/bad president is characteristic of that way of thinking.

We need to nip this in the bud, and now.

Carter is not a good man. Woodrow Wilson was not a good man. Castro is not a good man. Gorbachev is not a good man. These men are self-righteous, fanatical, delusional, power-hungry, sick and evil. They crave recognition as good, but they are not good, because they desire to control and limit human freedom, real freedom, that is - not some Wilsononian freedom from hunger.

Socialists are not misguided, they are evil. They have a false view of human nature and this false view of human nature is rooted in their willful disregard of the plain truths of humnan nature, individually and collectively. They are intoxicated by power and the desire to be recognized as "doing good" - and their version of doing good always involves pushing the rest of us animals around the yard at the feed lots, getting fat and ready for slaughter.

The founders of america had a radically different worldview and obviously a very different view of the state. Those men were good men. Some were better than others. Some had some philosophical problems - think of Jefferson - but they were right on the Constitution. None had a messianic complex and none were socialists. Neither Woodrow Wilson nor Jimmy Carter would have fit in very well with the Founders.

Obviously this rant could go on for hours. And others have already posted excellent points. But here is the one we can't forget: we need not judge socialists by their intent, which we are all to easy to accept as being good. Their intent is not good, because they want to limit freedom, steal private property and break up the family. The effect of their intent is not good, either.

Therefore we should not refer to Carter as a good man. He is not a good man. He is a sick, evil, socialist coward.

I guess that is why he got the Nobel Piss Prize.

But I do not see it. He is still hard headed and stubborn and refuses to acknowledge mistakes or address them.

He is not humble or empathetic enough to be what you say.

an apt comparison is Carter and Chamberlein....Chamberlein was no enemy of Hitler. He wasn't as evil to the core as Hitler, but he certainly empowered Hitler and assisted his coming to power throughout Europe.

Those who empower tyrants - people like Chamberlein and Carter - are evil, sick cowards. At least Castro and Hitler were up front about their intentions.

So a lifetime of meddling, preening and undercutting US foreign policy gets Jimmy the gold watch, the one that means more to him as its a validation and confirmation of his own smugness and moral superiority.

If you thought he was unbearable before, wait until he's fortified with the judgement of the Nobel Committe.Now, he'll have a reason to say "listen to me, the world thinks I'm a statesman "!

anyone out there know any billionaires who could set up an alternative award? One that could go to someone who really brings peace, to the Ronald Reagans, Winston Churchills, Margaret Thatchers out there? We could do it in literature, too, looking for real writers, not part timers who are really political activists....and in economics, we could ferret out all the socialists (although libertarian and Austrians and Chicagoans have done OK on the eco prize).

I have often thought about this. The propaganda value of the Nobel Piss Prize just further emboldens the left worldwide. If we could do the same but from the perspectie of truth, that would be way cool.

Carter gave away US oversight of the Panama Canal, "the most
important waterway in the world," says Adm. Thomas H. Moorer (ret),
which is now "packed with Chinese communists."

Sadat, appalled that Carter wanted the Soviets in on Middle East peace
negotiations, decided to directly offer peace to Israel's Begin. When
their plan was essentially worked out, they then called the White House,
because obviously, "they needed someone to pay the bill" (Bernard Lewis).

Not resting on his laurels, Carter demanded the Shah of Iran step down
and turn over power to the Ayatollah Khomeini, an Islamic madman. Carter
had the Pentagon tell the Shah's top military commanders - about 150 of
them - to acquiesce to the Ayatollah and not fight him. The Shah's
military listened to Carter. ALL OF THEM were murdered in one of the
Ayatollah's first acts. By allowing the Shah to fall, Carter created one
of the most militant anti-American dictatorships ever. Soon the new Iranian
government was ransacking our embassy and held hostage its staff for over
a year. More than 20,000 pro-Western Iranians were put before firing
squads. With the Shah gone, the whole region was destabilized. Iraq also
took advantage of the Shah's departure to invade Iran, a war that killed
more than 500,000 people. It also created the regional instabilities that
led to Iraq’s later invasion of Kuwait and to Operation Desert Storm,
which cost the lives of hundreds of thousands more. But Carter meant well.
And yet, with the blood of perhaps a million people dripping from his hands,
Jimmy Carter continues to stalk the world in his sick quest to be given a
Nobel Peace Prize.

Since leaving office, Carter has:
- praised Syria's late Assad (killer of at least 20,000 in Hama)
- praised Ethiopian tyrant Mengistu (killer of many more than that)
- secured Saudi funding for Arafat after he sided with Iraq against the US
- wrote the UN Security Council after Iraq invaded Kuwait, urging them
to thwart President Bush's pre-Gulf War coalition (designed to reverse
that act of aggression) - an action some called "treason"
