[history]
CORRALITOS, Calif.(AP) - A man with the environmental activist group Earth First! has died after a 50-foot fall from a redwood tree in which he'd lived for several weeks.
Rescue personnel were called to the scene of a logging operation in the Ramsey Gulch area about 20-miles south of San Jose on Tuesday night after loggers heard moans coming from the area where a group of tree-sitters has been camped since August, the group said. It was unclear how long the injured man had been on the ground.

Seriously though take a moment and remember all those loggers who have been senselessly killed because of some of the stunts tree activists have pulled and you really won't feel bad about laughing. These people aren't just freaks, in many cases they're murderers.
Spiking trees is a good example. These morons put spikes in tree trunks. Then, when a logger hits a spike with his chainsaw, it breaks the chain and causes it to fling backward at him -- killing or seriously injuring the logger. It's senseless crap like this. Let's face it: a logger is just doing his job, he isn't evil and doesn't deserve to be maimed or killed in the interest of enviro-terrorism.

My mistake. You're right. They would never eat meat.
However, certain plants like to absorb stuff that's hazardous to humans. Heavy metals, for one thing. Then there are
the partially edible plants that manufacture hazardous (but useful) chemicals. Rhubarb contains oxalic acid, for
instance.

Some of the blades used to cut trees to size can be 5'-0" in diameter, costs thousands of dollars, and throw teeth like shrapnel when they hit a spike at high speed. Most mills now x-ray the trees before they cut them, and guess who picks up the cost for that equip[ment and time? You and I every time we buy something made of wood.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves for mocking someones death. He may have been foolish, but he was also someones son, brother and friend. Imagine how his parents must feel.
That said, many of the comments on this thread were darn funny!

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around does it make a noise? If a tree huggin hippy long haired dope smoker falls from the same tree and no one is around does it make a splat noice? SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

I think the tree pushed him. Think about it. Would you want some unwashed lice infested hippie sitting on you for weeks on end?

Careful. You're insulting a lot of our Libertarian posters.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves for mocking someones death. I know I know you're right. Prayers for his family. Since this will add to their pain of having to explain to the world what their son did for all these years. He sat in trees to save them, and then he fell out of one. I'm sorry to smirk I just can't help myself!

Hope he didn't hit any of our forest furry friends on the ground. Then PETA would have to get after his estate. LOL

One a year is way too slow...
Is there an way that we can convince these Darwin Award winners to do it a dozen at a time?
