If the Dodge Caravan info is credible why are the police going to great lengths not to say so?? They have hemmed and hawed.

Last night, the Prince William County Police spokesman was asked about the white van, She replied that the BOTL for the white van was put out by the Virginia State Police and she didn't seem too interested in it. She gave the description as a minivan, looking like a Dodge Caravan, but instead of windows on the side, it's solid.

The Prince William County, Manassas City and Virginia State Police spent last night looking for white vans/trucks/box trucks/minivan/panel van in the area.

It is not uncommon to see vehicles speeding by that gas station. The highway entrance is right there and you have to get up to cruising speed.

Yep, they could just play a recording of previous news conferences and get back to work!

Bullet merely "confirms" he HIT the target...I won't be surprised he has had been involved in "paintball shooting" games or video games in his youth...making points for a "hit".

The hunting of humans has fascinated people over the years...he is caught up in PLAYING G-d and "seeing all"...his ritual leading up to the shooting is what he get's off to...and the climax is the "taunting" the police and what he perceives as being smarter that the police and "getting away with it"...the climax to his actions isn't the bullet killing the person ONLY hitting it...the calling card in these attacks is that the "bullet" which is his calling card...some serial killers take souvenirs (ears, nipples, jewelry, pieces of clothes, shoes etc.) , leave notes, engrave "marks" on the victims, use a particular method to kill...rope, hammers, etc.

He is a plain and simple serial killer and his actions are totally predictable EXCEPT his next "targeted location"...history has shown us up to this date he seems to like Gas Stations near major intersections with immediate access to a highway...he also likes shopping center parking lots too...and has ONE school under his belt. Patterns - patterns - patterns are the key...symbolism and patterns are part of the ritual...he wants to see IF the police can tie it all together.

No casings at any other location.

Think of this. If there is more than one, and they find one of them, put them in jail, and the shootings continue, why then they just might let him go. "Hey, how can I be the killer, you've had shootings since I've been in lockdown."

They didn't need to leave one. I think the card was the first.

They may already have that, with the one guy at the mental facility from yesterday. The one that shot up the inside of his house.

About the "safe mosque" aspect. Maybe, if as many suspect the person(s) are of ME look, the LEOs don't want to announce the ME characteristics just for the reason that innocent lives and religious property would be harmed because some people are too STUPID to realize that all MEers aren't guilty. (BTW, this is not directed and any particular person and no I am NOT ME. ;))

You're profiling, the TV says that is bad and that it has to be white male gun owners. Mrs. Brady says it was the NRA.

Yeah they're very smart. But they want to get the credit when credit is due. I think that's why they're leaving messages to the police and they want these messages secrets because they don't want "stupid" copycats to make a "mockery" of things. They don't want to be credited for what could be a "stupid" killing done by someone else.

For what it's worth, here's what I posted last night after the latest shooting:

"If it is indeed related, then the driver-shooter team switched again tonight. The best shooter, the one who shoots from inside the van, never misses and always kills his victim with a shot to the head, is back... The less skilled one who was driving tonight is the one who goes outside the van to shoot and whose victims survive."

I didn't keep up so there could be new details that would make this assumption irrelevant.

What I found weird from last night's 1:30 am (approx) press conference, was that the body was still laying on the gas station pavement 5+ hours after the shooting.

The law enforcement task force is apparently proceeding with diligence and caution which is a good thing.

Don't know about anyone else, but I have a question. The graphics are great to have, I have even printed some to keep me oriented..However, they slow the thread down terribly...

Any way we can have a separate "MD Sniper GRAPHICS Thread", and have this one remain graphics free and FAST??

It was sarcasm. They couldn't break the Ramsey case even with the culprits sitting across the table from them.

That was the Boulder PD. Different county, different jurisdiction.

That's not to say the DPD would have solved the case had it happened there.

These people have to sleep. If they sleep in their truck they have more chance of getting checked over by a passing policeman during the night.

Therefore, if they are not local, they will need to be in some form of accomodation. So hotels, motels, Bed and Breakfast, cheap room only accomodations need to be checked.

Otherwise they could be deliverymen, who continually go around this entire area, so if stopped they would have a perfect excuse for being there like; showing the policeman the meat in the back, having delivery notes of exactly where they are going too etc.

If they do live in the area and it is two people, then someone must know them, no two people are that crazy and stick together that much that somone would not know them.

My last possible is that they just got out of prison and want to take revenge on anyone in that area for something that happened to them or their family or maybe the reason why they were in Prison. This way the two would have spent a long time together in jail or maybe one is from jail and the other is the younger brother who is doing the driving.

Other wise next time their is a shooting, have the national guard ready and lock it down, or at least 20 square miles, nobody gets in nobody gets out and if necessary a curfew, for a couple of days.

Gotta Catch them and Gotta do it Now.

But they could get the HIT by hitting the leg, arm, shoulder. A hit is a hit, if killing isn't necessary, and its just fun.

Did you ever know the downtown cop who would set goals for tickets? What was his name? Buster Schneider?

No, but I pass through one of Wellington Webb's municipal revenue enhancement zones (speed traps) on Pena Blvd daily.

They were waiting for representatives of all partners in the task force to arrive on scene.

I think we are getting hung up on the MO thing. There is no rule that the perp has to fallow the exact tactic every time. Military snipers are pretty adaptable, (scope mounted M-2) the only thing they are going to do his consistent with killing and escaping to kill again. MOs work with nut jobs mainly because they are driven by compulsive behavior. This guy could be very sane, just wrong.

If he is a pro, changing MOs would have an advantage.

Thanks ET. I probably did mention the meters and not the tickets which I meant. Miscommunication and lapse on my part, as well. And I hope the kids in the bus are OK. Praying for them now.
