"Of course it had such particles on it," she said, "after all, the Shroud was exhibited a great deal in those days."
A great deal was made of the pollen and dust traceable to the middle ages as "proof" the shroud was a hoax. Flury-Lemberg's comment was one that should have been made when this "proof" was announced origionally.
But some people will do anything to destroy Christianity.
Gee, whatever happened to faith?
Why do scientific theories have to be "Destroying Christianity"???
Scientists offer opinions...You've offered accusations...Not very "Christian" of you...
But for those who are interested, this is an excellent site...

This is a straw man argument... it is the wrong question and a non-sequitur.
It is NOT that there were "pollen and dust traceable to the Middle Ages on the cloth"... that is not unexpected... but rather that there were pollen and dust from the Middle EAST on the shroud... a place it could NEVER have been if it were a 13th Century forgery.
And some people would just as soon get to the truth of a matter than to take a claim on it's face when it isn't a matter of faith. You know, like say for instance the "we have the chair of Peter" claim. If asking a group to prove it's claims on matters such as this amounts to destroying Christianity, then what is Christianity worth? My faith doesn't rest on trinkets, gimmicks and claims - it rests on God and HIS word. I'm a Christian and not threatened by such a pursuit of the truth - why is it that it so threatens you?
Christianity is not about a shroud. The shroud is irrelevent to Christianity. Destroying an old or new shround for that matter, wouldn't matter to Christianity at all. Christianity is ALL about following the teachings of Christ. Not about objects or images. Recall the Ten Commandments and see what matters to God on that issue.
Relax. "Christianity" does not depend on the validity of the Shroud of Turin.
Save your wrath for Socialist enemies of the religion like the National Council of Churches. They are a far greater threat.
