I was hoping we'd have more info on lasts night's shooting by now. It's been almost 8 hours--you'd think they'd have some kind of preliminary info by now...

Vietnam vets say snipers who led U.S. search-and-destroy missions were said to be "taking God's view" when they took up positions in high ground - which makes the God reference in the killer's taunting note doubly suspicious.
This fits in with the Bill Paxton sniper character in the movie Navy Seals code-named God.

What was the media source that reported the news leak? I'd like to write a letter to them, explaining what giant heaps of human refuse they are. Not much better than the "sniper", in my opinion.

I think it's sort of silly to presume it's a deranged Viet Nam vet. I mean who hasn't seen Apocolypse Now? That crazy Cav Colonel was doing the same thing. Anybody who has ever even heard of this could've gleened this idea and decided to do it.

I say this tarot card and it's message are phony and designed to throw off the investigators. The shooter read some book that talked about this cheap stunt. Also it's happened in real life where a psycho-killer left a tarot card or referred to it in notes sent to police.

The Tarot Murders.....duh!!! This is not the first clown to leave behind a Tarot card. In fiction or real life. I say it's phony and tailor made to mislead (idiot) Moose and other investigators.

Mere speculation of course, but it seems a small step to me--from God's so-called Jihad avenger to assuming a God-like personna for one's self.

Police believe the madman they're hunting may be a deranged Vietnam War buff or veteran because of the chilling calling card found in woods 150 yards from where he wounded a 13-year-old boy Monday. Boy, now there's a flash from the past! I haven't seen the media drag out the old "deranged Vietnam veteran" canard in quite some time.
The tarot card, experts say, bears a striking similarity to the ace-of-spades death cards American soldiers sometimes left on the bodies of slain Viet Cong.
Only insofar as they were both cards. I'm not sure what kind of "experts" are saying this, it would seem that if this shooter was trying to project that image, he'd use the Ace of Spades.
During the Vietnam War, some soldiers put death cards in the mouths of the slain enemy; others nailed the cards to the foreheads, and still others dropped them from the air.
Airborne used the "Ace of Spades", I don't know about the snipers. From what I understand, they didn't stick around after the fact, they'd "shoot and scoot" because they were usually deep in enemy territory with only one guy for security backup.

Here's a thought how about a son or daughter of a vietnam vet that grew up listening to their fathers sniper stories, and is now a sys admin of a half life conter strike mod server?

I have news for this assasin.
Killing someone doesn't make you God. Try raising Someone up from the dead, and then I'll take a second look at you.

This group who is doing the shootings has to be foreigners (terrorists) because who would call anyone "Mr. Policeman" if they were an American.
To: kattracks
That clinches it. The "I am God" comment. It's gotta be klintoon.

Somewhere nearby, a smart-ass eighth-grader is laughing his ass off. "Mr. policeman," indeed......

I am no expert, but my opinion is that "I am God" could be a reference from the Koran:
Verily, I am God: there is no God but I: so serve thou me, and establish regular prayer for celebrating my praise. -- Koran 20:14

"I am God" is the last line of a wild film called "El Topo." Very violent film.
The director of El Topo is an expert on the Tarot.
Best I know, no one else has made the connection.

This person is definately on some Zodiac kick. If he gets arrested I'll expect the police to find True Crime books on on the Zodiac killer, the Unabomber and similar killers on the bookshelf.
