Ron Paul Has Put Me on The Fence....
fox news ^

Posted on 10/09/2002 6:36:56 PM PDT by Texaggie79

Just saw Ron Paul on H&C. I hate to admit that I have always skimmed through his speeches on the floor, because I just assumed he was off base.

"Transferring war power to the President is unconstitutional"..... "We would have to change an amendment"....... Arguments posed by Doctor Paul.

On these terms, he is starting to win me over.

I still disagree that this is a non-provoked, because I believe that Saddam's refusal to obey the resolutions that kept him in power for 12 years is more than enough to act on. If we give in and do not follow through with the threat, how can our other enemies take us at our word? (hint:China.....Taiwan.....)

So, anti-war folks (if there are any left, teehee), have at me, pro-war folks, tell me how this transfer is not unconstitutional.

When did I try and weasel out of it? You took something too personally, and kept on whining about personal attacks - all the while calling me an idiot or liar with every post.

You need to get over it. Ron Paul isn't god, and anyone who doesn't worship him isn't a RINO. Libertarians like you that declare anyone who doesn't immediately snap to your views is a moron are the reason your party is destined to be nothing more than a footnote of history.

I ask again: Have you anything of substance to add, or are you just going to bitch and moan because I blasphemed your god?

You're a clown trying to claim Paul is someones 'god'.
And ever since post #71 you've tried to weasel out of what you said in it. - Plus -
- I don't belong to the LP, and disagree with much of their platform.
All of which proves you to be an absolute political idiot.
Thanks for playing the FR game so stupidly.

tpaine at great moments in American history:

Boston Tea Party - You idiots are destroying the rightful property of the British East India company. Not only will I not help you, I'll turn you in. You're using first force. Maggots! Parasites!

July 4, 1776

- You idiots expect me to work in concert with anyone. I'm my own man, you cretinous communitarians. Besides, the British will suddenly decide for themselves to let us be free, and the king will just up and quit.

The Civil War - Let the confederacy go its own way, you weirdos. It isn't as if the European powers will attack a divided America. Besides, the Southerners will decide on their own to free the slaves (all of whom stupidly continue to labor). Maggots! I won't lift a finger.

World War I - Let the Germans have their way, and France too. Its not like the Zimmerman telegram really means anything, nor attacks on merchant shipping. They have no designs on the Americas, you morons.

December 7, 1941 - You won't be using MY tax money to rebuild any statist fleet to use in a war of conquest.

World War II - Hitler has no way to attack us, idiots. Besides, you'll have to exert your communitarian idiocy on me to fight the war.

Ad nauseum.....

Yep, your silly historical delusions inspire nausea.

But it seems pretty straightforward. If Congress authorizes the use of military force and pays for it, what then has Congress done BUT declare war? That's it for tonight. Bye-bye.

Websters definition #1 for "war" -- A conflict carried on by force of arms, as between nations...

Yes it is straightforward -- Congress authorizes force so it authorizes war.

Absolutely right. Who are the constitutional scholars decrying this as a usurpation by the executive branch? This is clearly constitutionally permissible action by Congress, and the President is free--perhaps obliged--to follow the authorization. It is one thing to have qualms about military action, but another to dress up these qualms in the guise of a constitutional infirmity in the action by Congress in enabling the President. Let's be real clear about this.

I wasn't speaking to you, you pedantic dolt.

Of course, any movie, even the most ridiculous, poorly timed piece of half baked trash like Ishtar is more entertaining than engaging in a battle of wits with the likes of you.

Of course, about the only thing you give a fair battle to in that regard might be a tackling dummy.

Is that a not-so-subtle sexual reference?

Please enlighten us as to what you know about pom pom groupies. This sounds fascinating.

Ron Paul Has Put Me on The Fence....

So, anyway... one day, Ron Paul and a few friends were riding along the political landscape, when they came across a sheep stuck on the fence...

One of his friends says, "I wish that sheep would vote libertarian...". They all laughed, and then the second guy says, "I wish that sheep would vote for allowing Letters of Marquee...". All three got a good chuckle out of that one.

Then, as the laughter died down, Ron Paul looked around and said, "I wish it was dark..."

tee hee ;0)
