US and Britain are bombing air radar sites in Mosul, Iraq, it has been reported in the Japanese press, quoting Reuters. Actually, to the north and west of Mosul, in the No Fly Zone. This is of course a bit by bit ramping up the inevitable. No reports on numbers of casulties. Announced by European Command, according to report I translated just now (4:45 p.m. Eastern Wednesday, 5:45 a.m. Thursday in Tokyo)

And they did this without Tom Dasshell or Byrd's permission?

CNN is reporting we're bomging a baby milk factory in Mosul, Iraq. \bs You'd better be spoofing, Oldeconomybuyer. Sometimes it's hard to tell. CNN would do something like that.

It appears somewhat 'routine' and yet is raising the stakes. I am sure the US or Brit pilots got lot locked on hot and then went in and leveled the place. Hope they dumped plenty of 'Defect or Die' leaflets on their way out of there.

'Twas spoofing.

Thanks. A very helpful post and link!

Rumsfield said they were no longer satisifed to just return fire to the source but would now attack other sites in retribution.
Of course this is being done in order to reduce the number of targets needed to level at the outset of our attack later this year. (These folks are not very bright)

Better for that to be done when the Iraqis try to clean up the rubble.
It seems like a ramping up, all right. Kinda like a boxer jabbing and probing to find the weak points, then going for a knockout punch when he's got all the info he needs.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq said U.S. and British warplanes struck civilian targets in the north of the country on Wednesday, killing four people and wounding ten others. LOL, that is getting to be a tired old line isn't it?

When the Germans leveled Russian villages in WW II because they were shot at, the Nurnberg Trials call it a "war crime". Russian civilian casualties from German reprisal raids against partisans were also deemed a "war crime".
What do we call the dead Iraqi civilians our raids leave behind? oh yea, I forgot - they are "collateral damage".
No wonder the Germans want nothing to do with our upcoming attack on Iraq. They learned their lesson. We have yet to learn ours.

I would like to thank the Saddam Hussein regime for allowing our pilots to practice in their country these past 11 years. Iraq sure has proven to be a great training ground for our pilots. Our very experienced pilots! Soon it will be time to put our experience to some good use!

LOL, that is getting to be a tired old line isn't it? Their press secretary is actually a computer with a macro. Everytime there is a strike in the north or south, it just randomly makes up a number then applies it to this:
Function Propaganda()
dim max,min,random_number1,random_number2
max=100
min=1
random_number1 = (Int((max-min+1)*Rnd+min))
random_number2 = (Int((max-min+1)*Rnd+min))
strNews = "BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraq said U.S. and British warplanes struck civilian targets in the north of the country on Wednesday, killing " & random_number1 & " people and wounding " & random_number2 & " others."
Propaganda = strNews
End function
