I say crappy candidates get put up because the independent conservatives refuse to vote.
The republican party is split between moderates and "extremist". IF more real conservatives voted in the primaries we could take back the party and the country. Hell, the righties have been winning now and then. Mannix won his primary over a Rino and Mannix is a true conservative. He will lose though, becuase the LP cannidate will take 8%. I could maybe see it if Mannix was a lefty republican, but he is not.
But just because there are "bad" conservatives in the party, great conservatives refuse to vote for ANY republican. Destroying the chance to move the party to the right. It is not my failure, it is the exodus of 4% to 8% of conservatives.
You say Reagan is your hero, why not vote for guys like that in the party and help move it to the right?
I understand your moral high ground on this, but if every one of the LP and CP voters voted in the republican primaries we could put up candidates we can believe in.
I voted for Dole. Clinton won with less the half the vote. And though the 10% LP and Reform took would have not given us perfect president, it would have given us a president who obeyed the laws, a president who did not sell secrets to China.
More importantly it would have moved the party and the nation to the right.
That is only my opinion, I certainly do not have the market on ideas. I respect you position, I only ask you consider my point of view.
I have vote LP and CP, would you vote R?

You say Reagan is your hero, why not vote for guys like that in the party and help move it to the right? Huh? I said what? When did I say that about Reagan?
And why would I want to move the party to the right? I'm not a right winger. I'm not a left winger.
The political spectrum isn't a straight line left and right. It has a verticle and a horizontal line. The verticle line has to do with individual freedom and personal responsibility. The graph of political interest is diamond shaped.
And as to the voting question, no, I wouldn't vote "Republican". But I would (and have) voted for Republican candidates. Many times I might add. I would walk across red hot coals to vote for Ron Paul, a Republican representitive. And anyone like him.
