SpongeBob Squarepants is deadly serious stuff compared to the comedy you unwittingly parade around.

You cannot be serious. Please tell me you're trying to be funny.

"It is vile."

vile
adj. vil·er, vil·est
Loathsome; disgusting: vile language.
offensive.

Anyone who can call Spongebob 'vile' must himself be vile.

I'm serious. There must be tens of thousands of names you could choose to identify yourselves with--noble names, good names, perhaps your own names. But I have noticed that a substantial subset of libertarians adopt names like "DarkLordViciousCrapNoodle" or "GreenGrinningHorkPhlegm." Why?

You lose credibility before you ever open your mouths.

Uhh, it's the name of a plant, dude. I don't see how choosing a plant for a moniker discredits me "before I open my mouth." And it's more imaginative than some names I've seen around here, including yours.

I think that gay people are so desperate to fit in that they "steal" these types of things from tv to try to justify themselves.

You are spot on, Dianna. I was kind of suprised (no...more like appalled) that there is a huge gay following of my favorite (re-run) soap operas, "Dark Shadows." The main character is a vampire, who is trying to keep his secret away from his family. Gays identify with this, and it makes me ill that something so campy and beloved as a childhood memory has been, "swiped" by the rainbow crowd for their own perverted self justification. Burns me up to no end. Isn't there anything sacred and "innocent" anymore??

Don't feel bad. Just watch "Will & Grace" and claim it for your own.

I used to be friends with a couple of gay guys. One of them thought everybody else in the world was secretly gay. When watching television he would point at Ted Turner..."gay, obviously gay". When Star Trek came on...."see how he looks at Spock? Shatner is definitely gay". Jimmy Carter? The big Q. Ronald Reagan? Gay. In the couple of years I knew him he let me in on the fact that every male is actually secretly gay.

So now its Spongebob. Bet he's not surprised.

Hey guys, do you know what I think? I think any goober on this thread who's afraid of gays "taking over" their favorite characters has a serious screw loose. Maybe you're afraid that your latent homosexual tendencies will rise to the surface the next time you watch one of your favorite programs. Sicko.

Spongebob is a great kids show, which is very well done. Seriously, the comic timing is unreal, it is obviously done with above average voice actors, (the guy that played "Dober" on "Coach" does the voice of Patrick) Anyone with ANY sense of comedy can appreciate it. The absolutely LAST thing it is is a silly kids show, which is why it is so incredibly popular (cause parents like it to). The violence is also very minimal.

Any of you who don't agree, let's hear YOUR votes for Best Made Cartoons!

This is pathetic. Grown persons are about to argue a thread about a cartoon character into Smokey Backroom.

Why don't you all take that excess energy to important subjects like defeating liberalism?

Yep -- Tsuga spp., Pacific Northwest to Alaska. Oh well, I guess Hemlock qualifies as a dweeby, libertarian name. Isn't that right, Kevin "The Chicken" Curry?

Something says gay to men? My suitably sheltered 11-year old daughter called out Sponge Bob's orientation at the Target store two years ago, at least.
