I'm no fan of Dick Morris. I can't even stand his shrill voice.
But, I'm not arguing with you, Mo, because I too think the networks are shills for the Dems. I'm just saying that the networks don't cover a road speech by the President unless asked. President Bush didn't ask. Some afiliates have chosen to do so and that's great, but the decision to do this is normally with the President. I think Nick Danger made the perfect observation in his post further up this thread.

looks like some aired the speech and some didn't--in our local Philly market none of the "major" networks showed the speech

I don't disagree and yes they are shills for the Dems
I just think it was wrong and this was not just some road speech
And I hope they get SLAMMED in rating for this

I dont know who is in charge of it...
But the President has some really good handlers when it comes to setting up his speeches and wardrobe.
I have seen countless backgrounds produced for his speeches and in this speech he had another one. They matched it perfectly to his suit and the podium colors.
Alot of folks dont notice that sort of thing but I do. Kudos to whomever is doing it.

Clinton: "We must do everything in our power to stop Saddam Hussain. It's not for my legacy. It's for the children."
Democrats: "Hooray! We're with you 100%. You are a God!"
Clinton: "I spent my whole 8 years as president hunting down Bin Ladin. Honest."
Democrats:"Hooray. Of course you did. We all believe you and trust you with our lives."
Clinton: "I did not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinski."
Democrats: "Hooray. We believe you. You are a God, and so trustworthy, too."
Bush: "We must do everything in our power to stop Suddam Hussain."
Democrats: "We don't believe you. We need more proof."

"We Refuse to Live in Fear" Senators Daschle, Boxer, Feinstein do you hear that? I refuse to live in fear. My family refuses to live in fear.
President Bush delivered a concise summation in an appropriately solemn and measured tone. His strength of character is our nation's moral authority. His bold leadership is our steadfast resolve to rip apart Saddam's fortress of homocidal terrorism. Our choice is clear. Saddam can no "longer deny, deceive, delay."

I heard that the west coast stations aired the President's critical speech because the 5:00 p.m. time did not interfere with the stations otherwise primetime programming.
I do not know if you live on the east coast or mid-west but that is what I heard on the west coast when I called two of our local broadcast stations.

I have not watched a network news cast since the 1980s. I have never purchased a NYT, Washington Post, LA Times, or Chicago Tribune. However, our local paper pretty much just regurgitates (sp?) articles from the NYT, WP and AP.
All our local affiliates of NBC, CBS, and ABC aired the speech tonight. According to freepers on other threads, it looks like most of the West Coast got the whole thing. Interesting...

It appears from what I have read by others, it was the local CBS affiliates that carried it.

And for the record .. not everyone has cable to see the President's speech True...and even among those with cable, except for news junkies like us, most households are tuned to the major 3 during Prime Time. Many, many people missed seeing this speech and that's a shame.
No disrespect for President Reagan, for whom I have a deep and abiding affection, but I think America has a new "Great Communicator". President Bush wears President Reagan's mantles well, I think.

President Reagan is one of a kind and no one can be exactly like him or replace him .. but I am thinking President Reagan would be very proud of President Bush
