Well I think they have made it clear that LE is dealing with .223 (but I wouldn't rule out 308 or 270 Win either)
Unless they actually found a spent shell. Which I don't know about. I wonder if the topic of .22 was from someone mis-typing "223"...We use our .22's for plinking..spinner targets, raw eggs, paper targets..etc. Just cheap, all round plinking pleasure.

This is sooo sad. I am praying for this kid to pull thru. Could you imagine how frightened he must have been. :-(

The Michael Store burned? Was it ARSON?
To: samuel_adams_us
Yup
Either the wound size observation, or the designation of the projectile caliber, is wrong.
I suspect that the projectile caliber designation (which was reportedly provided by a paramedic)... is wrong.

Later news reports have said he was shot once. Conference about 12:15 seemed to confirm he was shot only once. Early reporting said twice. Not much new info here, I'm afraid. Unfortunately, if he took two torso hits from a .223 he's probably in real bad shape. That round has a reputation for poorly stabilzed bullets that tumble end over end as they pass through body tissue,
Which may explane why it appeared to be two wounds. Went in one area, came out another.

.270 would do a lot more damage than what happened to that kid. We drop 6 point bulls out here in Colorado with those baby's from 300 yards every year.

Columbine was inside. Since the shooters of Columbine are dead, I doubt they are doing these. But, you knew that!

"What you are thinking" and a Michaels link are not mutually exclusive, FWIW.

Really? I haven't read much about it..just couldn't bring myself to do it. (I know..I should have) If you have a great source that I could study up on it..I'd be very appreciative. Thanks..

A few of the ex-profilers said the shooter may be young (late teens, early twenties), but the fact is that no one knows. Except for knowing that people have been murdered and wounded and that the shooter is picking off people doing absolutely mundane things, and the times in which he does them, plus the caliber of the bullet in most of the shootings, everything else is speculation.

a .223 can go clean thru whereas a .22LR can bounce around inside causing internal havoc.

Any guess by Freepers within how many minutes, hours, days, the FBI is officially called in and takes authority in the overall investigation, rather than just cooperating? i., when/if will this be officially 'federalized'? It already appears to be multi-state......

I know many folks will hate to hear this, but I'd say it's time to start detaining/deporting foreign nationals. No offense here...I LOVE that idea...should've been done a year ago.
You're right, many will hate to hear it, but you're also right, we're nuts to not keep better track of our foreign nationals, at the very least. It's too easy for them to get lost in the enormity of this country.
We knew better during WWII, when Germans weren't even allowed in the country, from what I've read. But I don't think there was much enemy action in our heartland, was there? I can't remember ever reading if anything like that ever went on.

I also thought about Michael, the archangel, days ago but was afraid I'd be thought of as goofy so didn't mention it.

I agree with totally with your dissertation. TIME is a factor...Today's shooting is about the same beginning time as the Thursday spree.

Good point. Even a small caliber bullet can
be critical depending on location and quality and
timing of care. Penetration posteriorly through
the stomach can dislodge acid which perforates
the major blood vessels leading to immediate death,
whereas a perf in the front would be somewhat protected
by the omentum's reacton.
I hope the child is ok and the POS perps taken down ASAP.

I suspect that the projectile caliber designation (which was reportedly provided by a paramedic)... is wrong. I'm somewhat ill-informed on the matter, but I don't think there's much size difference between a .22 and a .223. If the paramedic was not at the hospital he wouldn't have seen the wound. He may have seen the spent bullet.

The people saying that he was shot twice may be confused because there was an entry wound and an exit wound.
