Police Chief was asked about whether there was a dispute at school with the victim. Police Chief said nothing to his knowledge. Reporters often wander crowd and ask questions and maybe a student mentioned a dispute (that's just speculation).

I disagree, .22 can kill a person easily from 75 yards.

There is a Michaels not far from the shooting. It's at the shopping center where the WalMart was said to have a shooting (but later proved to be false). The Michaels stored burned several months ago but I believe it is reopened. Very close to school...just minutes away.

Nope. He is speaking of Chinese/Korean/Japanese/Thai/Vietnamese ...which in my youth were called members of the Mongolian race but I do not know what the term is now.According to pc-ism, we have to call them Asian now, to use Oriental is "insulting". I no longer listen to anyone who tells me what words to use though.

The police are interviewing some students, at the school early this morning, since they were witnesses.

What difference does it make if it is terrorist related or not?
Buy a gun, learn to use it, and train your family.

...I'd say it's time to start detaining/deporting foreign nationals. Better late than never, but I think it was past time on 9/12/01.

I disagree, .22 can kill a person easily from 75 yards. But he sure as hell won't leave a wound the size of a coffee cup.

Does anyone know how likely it is that this kid will make it after being hit twice assuming it's the same shooter and the same weapon being used? I imagine this poor boy's insides are like scrambled eggs after being shot twice.Unfortunately, if he took two torso hits from a .223 he's probably in real bad shape. That round has a reputation for poorly stabilzed bullets that tumble end over end as they pass through body tissue, although some ballistics experts are now questioning that theory. But that issue aside, two upper torso hits from ANY high velocity centerfire rifle with any type round is very bad news for even a large adult male, let alone a 13 year old kid.

"Doesn't seem to fit the profile of osama's terrorists." ,P> It does fit their 'terrorist handbook' however. . .and very specifically. . .

Later news reports have said he was shot once. Conference about 12:15 seemed to confirm he was shot only once. Early reporting said twice. Not much new info here, I'm afraid.

Not even up close.

Interesting but lots of kids get kicked off schoolbuses, especially for wising off to the busdriver. If the kid would have been safer on the bus, does the busdriver feel any responsibility if the kid was kicked off the bus for something minor?
That would be interesting to find out. The busdriver is not calling in a report like Eunice from Georgia did.
To: OWK
If the boy is going to survive, that means it's more likely this was a .22LR than a .223.

I don't know anything about any dispute at any school, maybe you meant another poster. A reporter asked if it was true that the child had been removed from his school bus this morning. Which is why the Aunt was taking him to school, or so asked the reporter.
This sounds like a rumor to me. The shot was fired at a little after 8 am. If a kid is removed from a school bus, why so soon after he boarded? Because it would have to have been soon after he boarded. School buses don't just let unruly kids off in the middle of nowhere.
And if the implication is that the alleged disturbance somehow caused someone to shoot the kid, damn, how quick can someone get a gun, hide in the woods, and take such accurate aim so quickly. Without any clue as to where the kid would be dropped off or when?
