true too ...
couple nam vet buddies told me the high velocity m16 round often served merely to piss off the vc,
unless they were able to get multiple hits ...

Coverage of an event and terror are two separate things. I have no fear for my daughter's safety as she goes to preschool this morning here north of Atlanta. If there were snipers in multiple cities (say: LA, Boston, Miami, etc.) then I would be a lot more concerned.

I just don't feel like this is terrorism. This sounds like some psycho getting his jollies watching the police scramble to figure out who he is. There have been too many of these people in the past. This is a lot like the ones in New York (Zodiac Killer, Son of Sam). Terrorists like to go for the most impact.

Or there were 2 gunmen targeting the same target.

Re one or two shots... I have read reports of witnesses heraing two bangs. I discounted it at first but I am not sure at this point, what to believe.

It looks like we're losing more, and more freedom everyday. I guess it had to happen sooner or later, but it's heartbreaking to watch it happen in our lifetime.
Heads up liberals, the police cannot protect you....

Looks like the mother took the child to a small clinic or very small hospital - that didn't have a trauma center. He's since been med-evac'd.
By the way, Prince Georges county is drastically different from Montgomery county. Shootings in PG county are not rare - at all. Lots of gang-bangers.

Two Guns shot at same time. Buddies.

I was under the impression that we used the larger 7.62mm round in 'Nam and switched later to the 5.56mm pea shooter.

We have an EXCELLENT 9-11 system here in Florida. Maybe the rest of the country isn't up to speed. Our 9-11 system is for the fire dept. and ambulances who both have trained paramedics.
My brother is a programmer for the cardiac dept. of the system.
EMS is emergency medical services, not a bureaucracy. Our EMS system is a lifeline.
Finally, the cops could have sealed off the area faster, but apparently, this school was close to the interstate. The perps left the area because they had TIME TO LEAVE WITHOUT DETECTION; just like all the other times.

Wouldn't AQ go for something more dramatic, like doing this in several cities simultaneously? This may terrorize the DC area but it doesn't have a nationwide impact. Not necessarily. The Cole comes to mind, unless you know of another ship bombed at another port at the same time???
If you think that just because this is happening in the DC area, that it isn't affecting the rest of the country, think again. People know that there are cells all over the country, and they also know that these shooters 'could' be terrorists, thus the area of attack 'could' change at any given time.

You're so right! Its that same feeling of vulnerability that I had on 9/11. And that same sick to my stomach feeling. God bless the children of America.

It is believed the 13-year-old boy was shot once in the upper body.
Clark says the child may have been walking toward the school. ? ? ?

I hadn't heard that, but admit I haven't been keeping up with the story either. The reporting and Chief who gives the briefings seem so incompetent.

Fox has reported there was a cop stationed in the school at the time of the shooting, so it's likely the area got blocked off as quickly as humanly possible.

Here is some info on Tasker Middle School
Benjamin Tasker Middle School is the only middle school located within Bowie, a municipality of approximately 50,000, in central Maryland. It is a very important part of the Prince George's County Public School System, which serves over 261,582 students (1999), making it the largest school system in the state and the 17th largest in the United States.
The school is located at the corner of Collington Road (MD Route 197) and Kenhill Drive. Although the school faces Collington Road, the only entrances are via Kenhill. It is easily accessible from anywhere in the Washington/
Baltimore region by taking either US Route 50 or MD Route 3/US Route 301.

If this were the case, it may be an attempt to shift focus to Earth Liberation Front eco-terrorists. Won't work becasue the ELF crowd, even though they are violent, have not deliberately and directly targeted people. However, it may be a fringe fanatic of such an organization acting on his own (i.e. kill the evil SUV drivers). Personally, I think the perps are likely young, middle eastern men of the Islamic faith. What I don't understand is why they aren't trying for their hellish martyrdom in these attacks.
